No...it would be more along the lines of taking in your Explorer into Ford for servicing said brakes, tires, and battery, and then having Ford respond by telling you to "just buy a new car". If you build a product that obviously has consumables that will need to be replaced sometime during the product's lifetime, and leave no easily-accessible method for servicing, that's piss-poor planning right there.
Or if the battery of a laptop goes out and you are told to get a new laptop.
