RIP setting in a router

In my routers, I usually set RIP to off.
I also keep multicast off.
What is the advantage of setting RIP to on and is it a security concern?
And multicast, is it OK to leave on or off?

I have options on both the LAN and WAN side to enable/disable RIP.
