| Napster and Yahoo Unlimited Music service issues
Guys I can not get any dang song to play from these services! I have a paid account from both services because I thought it was just Napster, but I can not even click on a song on yahoo and listen to it. I get a can not stream, synch or download error from yahoo. And on napster it will download, but then when I click on play it says "sorry there is a problem playing this track try again later"
It doesnt matter what I do I can not get them working. They used to work, but now they do not. What can I do, thanks in advance

| Welcome to the fragile world of DRM....have you added any hardware,reinstalled your O/S or changed the O/S ?...changing a drive or (re-)installing the O/S will effect the DRM crypto to think that it's a different machine,there is nothing you can do but to contact support explain what happened and tell them to reset the account I underline this because Yahoo will send dumb*** scripted e-mails telling you or asking you something and they start at the top and might get to the root cause after 3 or 4 e-mails and two weeks time
Did you try to de-activate the machine from Yahoo's Music Engine ?
Open Yahoo
Go to "Edit/Preferences/Y! Unlimited/ and at the bottom hit "Deactivate"
Sign out,close Yahoo
Reboot
Open Yahoo sign and in
Try downloading a song
This program might help the next time that you move files to a new computer

Have you moved any of the folders where the music resides ?
If you have the programs might not be able to find the licenses,Yahoo licenses are drmv1lic.bak & drmv1key.bak(there may be another set numbered 2)
Is Windows Media Player 10 installed ?,you must have this installed even though you do not have to use it.
Is it upgraded with the latest security updates ?
try going here and updating WMP 10

When was the last time you backed up your license ?
Did you try to restore your license ?
Both of these are done through WMP,open the program and go to "Tools/Manage Licenses" from there you can back up and/or restore your licenses,I do this after downloading any large amounts of music.
You may try this,it has worked for me in the past
Warning:You are deleting a system folder !! this has never given me any problems and always regenerates,Do this at your own risk
1.Back up license as explained above,preferably to another drive
2.Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM
You will see files with extensions
.hds .bak .key .lic .bla
3.Copy this DRM folder
to another location,again another drive is best
4.Delete the "DRM" folder in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users
5. Reboot and the DRM folder should be regenerated by Windows
6. Try to play a song,if it doesn't work try restoring the files from WMP

I do not think I am explaining what is going on well enough.
I am signed in, I go to the Yunlimited area and click on a play button for lets say an album. It then try's to connect and it will not connect, it will just keep on going through all the songs trying to connect real fast. When I asign out and click on the same thing, it will load the 30 second clip, but when I am signed in, it just does what I said. It will not download or play the song for whatever reason. The same thing happens to Napster. I click to download, it downloads, but i will not play the file. I am lost, and of course CS is not open right now

Yes you were clear and I fully understand,I had the same thing happen to me when I re-installed my O/S,your crypto key has been changed somehow,the steps i outlined may work but I am pretty sure you will have to call or e-mail CS,try de-activating Yahoo first,thats what they had me try in step one

| I had to wait till they could reset it,it took two frustrating weeks for e-mails back and forth,I kept telling them to re-set it and they would send a recommendation to try all sorts of things that I knew were useless.First you will wait a week and they will ask you to de-activate the machine,then the next week they will say to rename the DRM folder,the third week your going to fuming(good thing your a fireman  ) since I have dealt with this before I took all the steps that I posted above before ever e-mailing them.
I finally wrote them a pretty scathing e-mail telling them "just re-set the ^%#$ thing or I will cancel" I might add that was able to get a free month out of them for taking 3 weeks to "fix" the problem
I have been using DRM music files for a year now,I also am always changing things on my system,so I know what is happening,I have been through the drill about 4 times now, and more than likely you will have to wait

| Sorry taking so long to respond,if every thing is working correctly yes there should be.I forgot to mention that the DRM folder is a "hidden" system folder and you need to make those visible,sorry if this is what tripped you up 
Instructions to make hidden folders visible:
In Control Panel go to "Folder Options" or any explorer window go to "Tools/Folder Options" and click on the "View" tab click on radio button next to "Show Hidden Files and Folders"
You may have to un-check "Hide Protected Operating System Files" also
Let me know what happens as I want to have a quick check list of things to do when Yahoo crashes and need feedback as to what works and what does not,I have found that sometimes the minor fixes such as de-activating Yahoo from with in the program works,sometimes you need to jump through all the hoops of real fire.

Well my issue it seems to be either my DRM folder, or my Windows MP 10 previous installation. I reinstalled my WMP10 and everything is now working. I also renamed my DRM folder, and it reinstalled another one. So either one worked, not 100% sure which one did it. But I am guessing it was the WMP10.

Yes DRM sucks it big time IMO that's why I make good use of MuvAudio or Tunebite that way if DRM crashes for whatever reason I have my 192kbs mp3 backups with no restrictions,I can also play the files on my Creative Zen Xtra mp3 player that[RANT ON] Creative told it's customers would be MTP/Plays For Sure compliant by Q1 of 2005,we are now at Q4 of 2005 and where the $#@%& is the firmware Creative ?????....you sold 1000's of units on peoples belief that these would work with subscription services and they don't

Repeated attempts to reinstall WMP 10 did not work - it kept telling me that there were more upgrades available. I had to roll back to WMP 9 then install WMP 10 again.

I have found out that while the majority of the time the DRM folder is located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users it can also sometimes reside in C\Documents and Settings\All Users.Windows |

When it says that you have to many computers activated there is nothing you can do,I have had this problem at least 3 times.

| Just FYI there is somewhat of a support forum here »groups.yahoo.com/group/yme-feedback/ the Yahoo employees don't seem to be of any particular help but as the forum takes off maybe we,meaning the YME subscribers cam help one another with our knowledge(usually born out of frustration with yahoo)
