Re: Did I miss something?

A couple of stupid users having issues 'cause they can't install something or 'cause they already had a mess on their systems is not Apple's fault. Maybe spyware messes up the installation, you can't blame Apple for that. All because Windows should be called PoS OS instead. I haven't had a single issue with iTunes ever. In fact, because of that and many other things I now use a Mac.

Has nothing to do with Windows being a "PoS OS", or about Spyware. Issues with installing iTunes is being found out on clean systems, and also has nothing to do with 'cause they can't install something' or 'cause they alreayd had a mess on their systems'.

Please move along Anon..

You're a moron. If you took the time to actually browse Apple's site you would see that not only are hundreds of people with both Apples and PCs having problems currently with iTunes, but Apple has 1 - released a fix because of some major bugs in the iTunes software, and 2 - are currently working on another because an enormous number of bugs still exist. Being a fanboy doesn't help anybody so keep your idiocy quiet and go back to playing the thousands of games, using the multitude of software, and... oh wait, that's right you can't, you're using a Mac.

All

I downloaded ITunes 5 and on loading it onto my PC found a number of serious problems:

1. Connection to the Internet immediately faile
2. The ITunes 5 would not load and came up with a multitude of error reports
3. My pen drive and CD Rom burner were no longer accesible.
4. The Windows System became very unstable.

I tried the usaual of uninstalling the software, that did not work and reinstallation made things worse.

I decided to use system restore to take me back to v4.9 - no longer an option as it would seem that ITunes 5 had taken my system files to the cleaners.

A visit to the variouds IPOD and ITunes forums showed a slow but steady flow of complaints and grumbles.

I set about deleteing every single Apple type programme from my system and even contacted my ISP to fid out if anyone had reported a similar problem. My ISP tested my connection and stated that I was connected!!!

So I reinstalled on what was an Apple Clean machine and lo - sam problem.

I removed everything again and this time tried connecting to the internet - no problem and the whole home network was alive. Well that was on the day the new ITunes 5 was delivered.

I investigated the system and found this nasty piece of work called Bonjour Services and through that the realisation that this client was the probable cause of the problems. It was throwing random DNS calls at the router form within the PC to Router connection so that everything beyond the router was fin BUT the router homee side was being effectively subject to a Denialk of Service attach from this piece of TOXICWARE that Apple decided to bundle with ITunes and QT7.

So despite all that has been said Apple are to blame for this mess.

In passing - not all routers were having this problem nd a simple enough solution was there too - to go into the control panel and change the auto allocating of DNS details to Manual SElect. this worked as Bonjour was being ignored form then on. However, a lot of ISPs change their DNS servers and so you would need to go in and reiput the new numbers....

I hung on and waited for the patch - this duly arrived as (%.1 or 5.01) and so I eagerly installed it looking forward to getting back to enjoying my library of music.

Reult EXACTLY the same problems occurred. I could have spat nails and went through all the different variations but all that was being reported was that the installation failed and clicking on the ITunes icon brought the router crashing to the ground.

I flew into a rage and denounced Apple as the master conspirators - making me fall in love with my now-cippled IPOD Photo 60Gb and the convenience of porting music files around the house throug the network.....

I trawled through the internet forums and came across a short nite from a kind fellow traveler who experienced the same problem - He confirmed no longer was Bonjour Sevices loaded but that he discovered that there was a problem now between ITunes and QT7!!! Because Bonjour had been ripped away its BORG technology menat that the collective was damaged. There was an answer and that was to install QT V7.0.2 in its standalone format!

I did this form a strange link to the apple site - SUCCESS SUCCESS SUCCESS - THE FU&*ING THING WAS INSTALLED AND WORKING PROPERLY.

So just download the standalone over the ITUNES 5.0.1 installation it worked. xP + SP2 did not quibble.

I linked my IPOD and there it appeared in the smoother looking ITUNES interface.

All has been great since 1am yesterday!!!

Now there is another iissue

IN MUSIC STORE - WHERE has the shopping cart gone - I bought some music last night to celebrate and expected to review my purchases - no Shopping Trolley just a direct purchase and l and behold I bought a track I had already purchased before.

So my only revenge on Jobs and Apple -

I cancelled a purchase of 5 G5 systems today for my office. F&^k you Apple - I will also find a different Media Player - there will be better out there and I dont need your useless crap anymore. You see I worked out the time I spent sorting your SHI* out and applied my own rates for consultancy to the time spent. Pisses all over the cost of the IPOD and accessories I have bought. So I will EBAY my beloved IPOD and plough the money into something else that is not so up your Apple arses. It would have been cheaper to have thrown the whole kit and caboodle into the river.
