| how do you know? any proof?
Not to discredit you, but a lot of people say DL's are capped when really it's a problem with the (A)Seeders on BT, or (B)It only uploads at a certain speed and maybe it's bogged down...
but if you have proof of it, then good to know. |

1) BT throttling and P2P throttling. 2) Throttling on USENET newsservers. 3) Throttling on certain websites in Vancouver areas.
So much for "exploring rich multimedia sites".. |

| said by Manatrite :2) Throttling on USENET newsservers. use a client that supports more than one server pre file. instantly double your cap since the 2 megabit cap is per server. ex: download 3 files at a time from 3 seperate servers, GV, VC, OK and you instantly have a 6 megabit cap.
good luck ever coming close to that cap, even on extreme -- Name another North American suburb of over 165 000 people which STILL doesn't have a CO close enough for many to get DSL! (ITS NOW AVAIL AFTER 5 YEARS OF WAITING!) |

@204.209.x.x | Shaw only throttles in the lower mainland as of right now. Alberta is NOT throttled. |

»Usenet/NNTP slow down?
A user claims they have been throttled using newservers. This is in Alberta. |

| reply to Manatrite For newsgroups/USENET it's advisable to use a commercial service. I use EasyNews, and they're aware of ISP's throttling traffic on certain ports (specifically NNTP) and so they offer alternative ports, thereby getting round NNTP throttling. When I download from them I get my regular 750KB/sec, no problems!

BTW - I'm on Shaw Xtreme, in Vancouver. |
