Did I miss something?

Using Itunes 5.0 on XP with SP2, not a single issue.

As much as I dislike Apple, this doesn't really seem like a new news item. I post a bit in the WoW tech forums, and every time a new version is out there's a huge influx of "oh my god I started the game and my pc exploded" or "I started WoW and then my computer blue screened me" or "all the lights on my router turn on and I can't access the internet when I start wow". Seems to go for pretty much any software, and 99% of the time it's something on the user's end- bad power supply, old video card drivers, or a really crappily designed router. The possibilities are endless. I doubt many of the problems users are having with iTunes 5 is a problem with Apple's software.

I don't see it as a news item either. Problem is Apple's die hard fans portray Apple as perfect, so anytime Apple has any small misstep it gets plastered all over the news so as to rub it in their faces. You should see the OS X security update patch threads, lol.

Ditto. I generally wait for a x.1 release but I bit the bullet on this one and didn't have any problems.

There is one known problem. I downloaded directly from their website Itunes and got a file corruption error when trying to install.

No issues installing with win xp sp2. The issues are sharing music with itunes 5 didn't pickup any of the itunes 4.9 shares. Uninstalling creates a backup of your library, but inorder to go back and install 4.9 you must rename the backup or move it out of the folder.

I'm staying with 4.9 until 5.0.1 or later.

I read that the mini player window is improved but I can't find any details. Could a Windows user pease provide details and/or a screen shot of the new mini player window? Here's the old one for reference:

iTunes no longer recognizes my burners... says registry settings are missing when they're not!

Reinstalled, didn't change a thing.

UGH!!

Dude the only problem is your internet connection. Apple and anyone in their right mind for that matter would never have a corrupt file available for download. The file sent to you was fine up until some faulty point in the transfer where it became corrupt. Chances are this faulty point is either somewhere within your house (if you have dial-up) or between your modem and your computer (if you have broadband). Unless iTunes is also your ISP or the name of your modem, you're barking up the wrong tree.

BTW if you've had problems with corrupt files before you might want to check out »/linequality

Same here, 4 PC's (of various assortments) and 1 Mac.
No problems downloading tunes, Podcasts or Audible Books.
It's probably Software conflicts with other stuff installed on Users Systems which needs time to fix.
As for accusations of Apple being perfect (other posts), anyone claiming Apple is perfect is exaggerating although I will say, in my limited experience with Apple products, it has been a much better one than with Windows and some PC's.

Looks like someone got at least a temporary fix.

I had no problem on my Laptop, but the desktop stated that the file was corrupt, until I Removed Quicktime 7.0.xBeta, and was then able to install with no problems.
