How long are Comcast DHCP leases?

Does it vary from region to region?

They usually use 1 week leases, unless maintainance or repair work is happening about to happen, then they switch to 1-2 hour leases.
They do uses a persistant lease system, as long as you are on once a week you will probaly get the same IP for many months or years.

Thanks. I was just looking at my SB4200 logs and note that the renewal attempts are every 3 1/2 days, so that would be consistent with a 1 week lease.

Yup, even when I'm out of town for more than a week, the router is on. (and my ReplayTV downloads it's program guide everyday) Same IP for >10 months.

I've been a ATTBI/Comcast sub for 3.5 years. My IP has only changed 3 times.

Once with a new installed router (MAC change), the second when they switched me from the ATTBI servers to the Comcast servers, and when I upgraded my router to a WRT54GS last summer.

Almost a year with the same Address (IP) - amazing. Almost like having a static IP... for the price of dynamic. Nice Comcast... no complaints.

The DHCP information in the modem logs is for the modem's Wan-side IP. The information about your computer's lease is found in the computer, or router as the case may be.

The DI-624 does not post its the amount of lease time its connection to the internet has, only the expiration times of the leases it gives to its clients. The only way I can see the length of the internet lease is to connect my computer directly to the cable modem and run ipconfig. You can make a guess from the DI-624 log though from when the router starts trying to renew its lease. Its usually half way into it.
It looks like Comcast may have made some changes around here lately. My IP address went from 24.xxx.xxx.xxx to 68.xxx.xxx.xxx. Ever since then my lease has been only an hour. This has been going on for about three weeks.
