I know I have 2 web servers and a dedicated, they can both feed at nearly 30 mb. Dedicated is around 32-33. So I don't understand where all these servers are lacking bandwidth, keep in mind, these aren't the most expensive hosts out there either. |

| Whenever a new technology first comes out like bigger hard drives, or larger sticks of ram, or larger capacity dvd's, or even when high speed internet first came around everyone went "Wow I know I'll never be able to take advantage of all that!" Two months later they have used it up and are looking towards another upgrade.
Now I'm not saying everyone needs to get 30/5. I'm just saying that we will quickly learn to take advantage of this bandwith and the internet will change in ways that allows us to more easily do so. I won't be surprised the day the Verizon starts amping up speeds faster than we all ever imagined. As people add more and more interactive and video related material to the internet they test our connections more and more. Verizon will enable them to have a feast and they will force Verizon to keep supplying higher and higher speeds.
I was amazed when I first got DSL. Now I'm too impatient to wait 5 mins. for a 100mb dowload. |

1 edit | reply to AJ023 Well for a small price to pay, I guess an upgrade to gigabit should be eminent soon, I wasn't thinking that many people. MY webserver is the only one that could handle multiple customers. So yeah, I guess my servers could only handle 1 30mbit customer at a time. But than again..bit torrent you guys are right. Say hello to gigabit? Switches are becoming cheaper and cheaper, I got the netgear one at home, but my connection obviously isn't that fast, it helps transferring from pc to pc though. |

| I would imagine you do actually have it, based on the change reflected in the upload, but the test server couldn't handle the max speed, or you need to tweak (your not using wireless are you?)
30/5, wow, I would buy it first, figure out what to do with it second. I'm happy enough with 15/2, but more is always welcome |

1 edit | reply to AJ023 I emailed Verizon for a status of this... Here is the response I received from Encore:
This message is in response to your email dated September 8, 2005. You inquired about the availability of Fios 30/5 at $54.95 package offer. I will be happy to assist you.
I understand your interest.
The package to which you are referring is being offered in two markets at this time as a test.
Unfortunately, no plans have yet been announced to extend this offer to other areas.
So there you have it...
Cheers, Ronnie |
