| reply to di524newbie Yes, I installed it and I have had nothing but wireless problems. Internet browsing = very slow and complaining gmom. Before on the 1.11 v (Rev A1 Router) everything was fine but now the internet is slow for my gmom through wireless, fine for me through wired and my PSP connects but once that happeneds its connection gets dropped from the router.
I have 1 wired, 2 wireless pcs and a wireless psp. I do have 1 phone on the 2.4 ghz band and another on the 5.2 but that has never caused an issue before. Problems happen weather I used the local Static IP function or Dynamic. Dont really know what else to do cept to revert back.... |

| reply to kartick Wirless problems here as well, one wireless machine worked fine, but next one isn't. Mine on wired is fine, I don't know what else to do either, it sure isn't working right. Doesn't D-link test firmwire before they release it, may revert back to 3.05, instead of 3.20.
have reported the firmwire upgrade problem to D-link tech support, so they will know of the problem, and get it resolved someway. |

| reply to Dipsomaniac Funny, I was just about to start a new thread about the new 524 firmware upgrade.
I downloaded and installed ver 3.20 for rev. C a few hours ago, things are working normal for me.
BUT - I don't use wireless anymore, I never could get decent signal so ran CAT5 through the house. Love it now.

Little off topic, but anyone know why on your status page of the router they can't tell you there which revision firmware you have? It's just annoying to have to check everytime I want to upgrade. (I've gone through at least 5 routers over the years and can't remember which has ver A, B, C or whatever)
Or it'd be nice if there was just one download for each model, and it was just smart enough to install the right one for you when you upload it.
Yeah, that may sound a little lazy but they should make everything as "user-friendly" as possible. I'm sure more than one user has messed up the router by installing the wrong version. (what would happen anyway? I haven't done it before) |

| reply to di524newbie While too soon to really tell...I was on my wireless laptop for a couple hours last night (after flashing the new firmware and re-entering configurations), and no disconnects, WAN connection speeds (file downloads, web browsing, email, etc.)and LAN connection speeds (file and print sharing) were normal.
Could be a case of "mileage may vary", although from what I've read from the above posts, my WLAN is different that I have one wired desktop and one wireless laptop.
I have the DI-524 C-1 version if that makes any difference. May be the A-1 version is not stable? -- ionSKY Wireless ISP - 2.4GHz - 802.11b - 1.0MB/384kbps | Dell Dimension 4550/WinXP Pro/SP2/768MB Ram -- Dell Inspiron 5150/WinXP Pro/SP2/512MB Ram |Kerio Personal Firewall 2.1.5 | NAT Router/Firewall | D-Link DI-524 Wireless Router/Firewall |MSAS Sucks! |

| Yeah, I sure did--one wireless machine connected fine, but kept disconnecting over and over and over, wireless machine 2, wouldn't connect at all, (mine is wired down here) and wireless machine 3, I couldn't check out with new firmwire, since my sister has windows password on. once going back to 3.02, all machines connected fine again.
As well as best friends laptop couldn't get on like she normally does when she visits...kept searching for signal, then said Limited or No connevity over and over, went back to 3.02, and after giving her new security key, it worked..then i changed key a second time..and all is well |

| I have DI-524 A1 version and update to firmware 1.05. With firmware 1.11 I would get an error stating not appicable to your hardware. WTF? So, V 1.05 has worked great with out a hitch. I have one wired and one wireless. Theres no chance I will try V 1.20 now!

| reply to di524newbie Welp, after further testing this afternoon with my girlfriend on the wireless laptop and me using the wired desktop, we observed the same wirless disconnect problems, the only way of reconnecting was rebooting the laptop or reseting the router.
So, I flashed back to the 302 firmware version and it seems to be running fine, my girlfriend hasn't complained in the last 2 hours. The connection with the 320 firmware version lasted an hour, and then died. -- ionSKY Wireless ISP - 2.4GHz - 802.11b - 1.0MB/384kbps | Dell Dimension 4550/WinXP Pro/SP2/768MB Ram -- Dell Inspiron 5150/WinXP Pro/SP2/512MB Ram |Kerio Personal Firewall 2.1.5 | NAT Router/Firewall | D-Link DI-524 Wireless Router/Firewall |MSAS Sucks! |

| reply to di524newbie Upgraded to 3.20 (Rev. C). Worked fine for about 4 hours. Then it started rebooting every 2 mins. Back to 3.02 and working fine as before.

| reply to di524newbie I was using the Rev A with the 1.11 for about 6 months and all was well. Occasional reboot but not too serious and then, bam, lots of connection issues that I could never get under control. I finally went back to 1.03 and things smoothed out.
I the did the best thing of all. I ditched the 524 and bought a 3Com 54Mbps router for $7.99 after a $60 rebate last week and I can't believe how solid it is. I turn on my laptop, and it simply connects everytime. The router hasn't rebooted one time since turning it on. That is something I cannot say about the D-Link. The 524 was great for a while, but flaked out. We'll see about this 3Com, but all indications point to a rock solid router.

| reply to di524newbie One other thing, the speed degradation problem that existed with the 524 is not an issue with the 3Com. The 3Com stays fast consistently, pages refresh quickly always.
I've been using the 524 for so long, I used to think that all was ok. Boy was I wrong, the 3Com router performance is much, much better.
