Are you looking for a news SERVER or a news READER with fast dl's?
From what I can tell by reading, VZ's news servers are fairly fast comparatively. How fast is your service? If you have the 5/2 package, your speed sounds about right...
You might also try a multi-threaded news reader like Grabit. |

Tampa, FL | a news reader with fast downloading. i have the 15/2 service and 500kbps is not good enough? i will check out Grabit. but im using newsreactor right now and cant get high download speeds anything else i can try |

most likely the server are congested already with dsl user and Fios your be better of paying as verizon does not have all groups they limited by storage i guess and only few day Retention
look for a pay newservers both are unlimited speed everything your line can handle FIOS speed is 56 KB for them

goog luck after gettings a pay newsgroups provider or if u still with verizon don't forget to sign up to newzbin.com
for easy d/l $2 for a month you won't get access to them unless you put out first  but you can search the site now u don't get the same resolts as paying coustumer so @ least try one ( u will love it) ones u go newzbin u never go back lol

Im using Grab-It with the Verizon news servers and my speeds are good for me.Time of day and your news reader configuration could have an effect on your download speeds.I Q up my downloads early in the morning before work and configure the reader to pull off of 8 threads at one time and I run at a steady average 1800KB/s . Late morning into the evenings tend to slow down a bit ..... 1000 to 1200KB/s range. |
