Why so hard to find phones?

Why is it so difficult to find EDGE compatible phones with T-Mobile? I would think they would want MORE paying subscribers afer spending all the money to install EDGE, but a novice can look high and low and not figure it out on their site. Call their employees and they ask was EDGE means...

Good voice coverage in my area and I would like to add EDGE, but I cannot find out how. Of course, I am not sure I would actually buy any of the phones that TMobile sells since you can find a lot of people bitching about the lack of quality.

In reality they can not even produce the phones fast enough.

You must remember your not the only one looking for these phones. Kids growing out of their old phones are buying what ever looks good to them and most of the edge compatible phones are moto 330's which seem to be all the rage with the younger crowd.

Not to mention most of the prepaid phones have edge... which i just don't understand , but eh to each is own.

I've seen lots of articles about Verizon's hi-speed wireless plans, and now here's a little about T-mo. Does anyone know about Cingular's 3g plans?

Yes but the people working on it are held to NDA's it won't be as fast as the evdo solution that verizon is using. Testing is showing broadband like speeds. I wouldn't plan on them competing the first time around. Maybe after the first round of upgrades they may be competing for that business dollar.

Cingular already has had edge out for almost a year now.

HSPA will be out soon wich is going to be much faster.

Probably the main reason you can't find phones yet is because they haven't officially offered it to the public. I think that's coming sometime in the next few months. They are still in the testing stage and some markets are still installing the necessary equipment for the edge system.

Why would you go to T-Mobile? Any unlocked phone can work. I haven't bought *ANY* phone from them and I was a originally Voicestream subscriber for about a year...

Where are the marketing weenies???

Seems to be a missed marketing opportunity...why wouldn't you sell phones in advance of EDGE rollout where you can say "Hey, if you need data in a phone, we'll have it in xx weeks/months" so buy this phone and you'll be set..." or "If you ever need data, these phones will handle it once we finish installing it..."

Considering how carefully scripted most carriers are about this, one would think they knew a LONG time ago that EDGE was coming...in fact, if I am not mistaken they promised it a LONG time ago...I thought it was like 2003-2004 on their web site.
