Good, they don't need you anyway. They will be offering a BETTER price and more content. I know where I'll be.

Verizon, possibly, SBC, BS, and Qwest no way. Then again, so far there is nothing but marketing hype for Verizon TV service, and nothing but crap coming from the rest. I'll stick with my cable company as they offer me the best service and content for the best price that I have seen from anyone else.

I agree with you on the SBC... I'll take my chances with DirecTv.

Well in my neck of the woods, the cable company has raised cable internet from 29.95/month to 49.95/month, the TV service 40% over the last couple years and offer inferior quality service. The telephone company has lowered the price of internet to allow service at $15/month and $29/month.... They also offer rock solid service that hasn't gone out on me for years. FIOS is CHEAPER to maintain after it is setup. Cable companies have more problems keeping their networks up. I'll take FIOS anyday!

Since you don't work for them you have no clue as to the price it costs to maintain it. But there is no chance an all fiber plant is cheaper to maintain than a HFC or copper plant. The technology is much more expensive that cable or phone networks.

Cable companies have more problems keeping their networks up.
Maybe in your area, but in mine my cable company hasn't had a problem keeping the network operational. It all depends on the provider and how they want to manage the network.

I probably have been following FIOS longer than 99% of the people on this site. I may not work for them, but I have read STRAIGHT FROM VERIZON'S MOUTH that one of the benefits of FIOS is CHEAPER MAINTENANCE! FIOS costs more to install at first, but once it is installed it is a 100% passive system. Repairing the fiber is very easy and there are no signal issues to deal with. Not to mention the service can be brought to EVERY CUSTOMER that can get FIOS, not just people with X distance.

As for the cable company being less reliable. Well, just take a look at this site. More people have reliability problems with cable than they do with DSL. Reason? Cable is very sensitive to signal problems (splitters, etc). Yes, DSL is also sensitive, but most of the time you can't get a signal or be allowed to get service if the modem won't work reliably.

Lets see a link to that.

Repairing the fiber is very easy and there are no signal issues to deal with.
You really don't know much about fiber do you? Fiber is not cheap to repair and yes it has possible signal issues when it comes to splicing it. A poor splice can cause all kinds of signal(laser) problems.

As for the cable company being less reliable. Well, just take a look at this site. More people have reliability problems with cable than they do with DSL.
I think you need to take another look. I haven't seen any DSL provider more or less reliable than the next carrier. They all have their own fair share of problems, including your beloved FIOS.

Reason? Cable is very sensitive to signal problems (splitters, etc).
That's probably the dumbest reasoning I have heard. There is no one reason why one form of broadband is more or less reliable, the reason, IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW THE CARRIER MANAGES THEIR NETWORK.
