| [Line Problem] Service in plantation, fl.
Does anyone in Plantation, Fl have DSL service? I haven't DSL since the power and phones came back on yesterday. The network status page says the problem in Plantation is resolved, but I just have that evil blinking red light on my DSL modem.
Anyone know anything in my area?

Getting line sync on Speed Touch Home, packet sniffs indicate I'm sending PADI's (PPPoE active discovery initiate) and getting no response. I got on on Saturday from a laptop before we got power back fully (we were on jumper extension cords to another building) and my modem has been unplugged since then. The hurricane was over by Friday. If I got on on Saturday there's no dang outage here. This is flight surgeon (bellsouth.net) horseshit Deke --- Apollo Thirteen.
Usually, as you say, it's a matter of a port reset. If that's not it they need to replace a card here ... right down the street.
It seems that they are REFUSING to do that ... because some blinky thing on their computer screens tells them there are "Southeast Florida" outages (at least 2). The support drones don't seem to be able to engadge beyond the standard answer... It's an outage and will be that way until possibly September 5th.
Wow that must be bad!!!!???? But if so, what is it? I mean how difficult can it be to fix. If the hurricane damaged it, whatever it is, it must be repairable / replaceable?

It all sepends on what broke, and POTS has priority over DSL. So it could be that they just haven't got to the equipement yet.
Also you have to remeber that support for the equipement is centralized, so the folks who troubleshoot the equipement are overloaded, while it may be technically a simple fix, its still just one of many many tickets being worked, and will get addressed as soon as possible. |

Despite what FPL states power is still out in many areas and that is also affecting restoral efforts so hopefully whatever needs to be reset or replaced will be soon.
Wayne -- If you can't fix it with a buttset and some beanies you ain't a technician. |
