said by TKJunkMail :As Google continues to roll out Beta after Beta of new tools and services, I detect a dropping off of quality and a reduction in the usefulness of their offerings. That may apply to the slimmed down chat client that (gasp!) is simply a chat client without a bunch of ads, but both Gmail and their mapping service handily beat anything else out there. I can't even remember the last time I went to Mapquest or TerraServer. It's truly helpful (at least where I live) to not only get directions but to be able to look at the "hybrid" map so I can actually see what the terrain is like when travelling to unfamiliar territory.
Someone else pointed out that they are "like Apple", and I agree. Clean, useful interfaces without a bunch of ads or pop-ups. Some people seem to really want the blinkenlights and other distractions to deem an app "advanced", but I'll do without. |
