Incredimail Website - Check this out

I'm updating computers today. I went to the incredimail website on one machine with IE6 and Incredimail build 2068 is posted with today's date. (8-22-05)

I then went to the same site with Firefox on another machine and got build 2031 posted Aug 4th.

This is the website:

Would some else please use their IE and firefox browsers and check this for me. I want to make sure it's just not me.

Is there a date difference between full setup and update .exe?

This is insane. I just did their third machine and it had posted build 1033 from April 2005. I checked the browser settings and they are set to refresh on EVERY Visit to the Page.

I even hit reload and got the same.

So I ran the upgrade link with the April 2005 posting and it downloaded the latest 2068 build.

I see the same two builds - 2068 - with both browsers.

Maybe a caching issue with Firefox? Empty your cache and reload the page.

I downloaded and installed the newest version. As soon as I saw that the Junk Mail Filter was now an add on that required more money, I uninstalled it and went back to the previous version. This business of having to pay for something that was previously free is rediculous, especially when you are a premium user. I purchased the program a couple of years ago and never regretted it until now. They can at least give us the option of having the original filter or pay for the premium junk mail filter .

Bornloser, how did you get your previous version back? I installed this new version, and like you, I'm not paying for something that was free before this upgrade. I need to find out where to get the previous version.

I'm with you. No way I am paying for it. I bought my premium license 2 or 3 years ago too. Enjoyed the app until monday when I downloaded the latest build.

They should have left the features intact and made their Plus just what it means... "in addition to..." But the way they have it now, it's all or nothing on the filter.

I already contacted them through the VIP links to b!tch about what they did. More than likely nothing will become of it, but if they get enough of the emails like I sent something may sink in.

Just wait until they start charging for the emoticons!

I would pay $19.99 if it was really good because I get lots of spam and i am always looking for a better way to stop it. But whats with the 1 year subscription???

I always download the full version, never the update or upgrade version. Plus, I ALWAYS keep one or two previous versions just in case I don't like the new and improved or if there are bugs in one way or another. I do this with all of the software that I download.

I, too, sent an email to Incredimail regarding my displeasure with their tactics. I bluntly told them my feelings and reasons for uninstalling the software. Whether they read the feedback or not, I guess that would be another story.

If anybody needs the prevoius version (2031), I'll gladly share. Just provide a place to upload it to (7.58MB). Or I could put it in my Yahoo briefcase.

I'm a Incredimail Premium user. Build 2068. I just received an e-mail from Incredimail offering their Junk Filter Plus at a discount. From what I see, this new Junk Filter Plus is a spam blocker that filters spam automatically instead of you having to block and delete spam manually from the Junk And Unapproved folder. I don't see the big deal. If you want it, buy it. If not, don't. I don't think they are forcing it on you.

I had to uninstall my 2068 about a month ago, and when I reinstalled, the Junk And Unappoved folder was still there. I'm not sure if I will purchase this Junk Filter Plus, since I don't received a lot of spam.

No, they are not forcing it on you. But, if you install their newest version of Incredimail, it does not have a filter unless you purchase the "new and improved". If you try to turn on the filter in the new version, it takes you to their web site where you have the option to purchase it. That is total BS. They should at least still make available to us the filter that was in the previous versions with the option to "upgrade". Not just leave us high and dry. That is the big deal!!

Ohio Attorney

Apparently Incredimail did not clear its new policy of subscription-only junk mail filtering with its attorneys prior to removing its Incredimail Premium customers' access to their traditional (free) filter.

Their attorneys would have advised that those who previously had purchased, and paid for, Incredimail Premium WITH junk mail filter entered into a binding contract with Incredimail (and vice versa; there is no such thing as a unilateral contract. If one of the parties is bound, all are bound).

Incredimail subsequently changed (indeed, deleted altogether) one of the elements of that contract - i.e., junk mail filtering. In so doing, Incredimail has BREACHED its contract with every pre-existing Incredimail Premium purchaser.

You may be certain Incredimail is going to be sued over this breach, almost certainly by a New York-based attorney (God love him or her), inasmuch as its License Agreement specifies that any disputes must be brought under New York law.

I can't wait.:D
