Dose InsightBB monitor bandwith used?

Hi, I have been wondering if InsightBB monitors how much bandwith is used. Also, if they take action on high usage customers?

As i pay for premium subscriptions to FileShack and Giganews i tend to d/l alot of stuff, however i schedule it to usually to start at 2am when everyones asleep.

Anyone have some thoughts on this?

I've moved several hundred GB in a month before... no communication from insight.

that, btw, was when I was struggling with MythTV. I went through a lot of linux distros.

It has been stated in this forum previously. That Insight provided newsgroups have a usage cap per month. And that Insight does in fact keep on eye on overall usage. In the past some users here have been warned do to their usage.

With all that said. I think most of us here would agree that Insight is fairly liberal when it comes to letting us use our bandwidth. Now if I was seeing the speeds I'm supposed to - so I could use that bandwidth - that is another topic altogether though.

I'd agree that there have been months that I've used the service pretty heavily. And over the years I've never seen a negative result do to this. As far as I'm aware.

I normally don't use the same amount of bandwidth per month. It definitely varies.

You do the laundry. You pay your due.

I would guess that you would have to be a sustained exorbitant user in order to receive notice from insight regarding bandwidth. Could you link to somebody who has gotten a notice?

»Insight AUP Violation []

There was at least one or two other threads that related to warnings for P2P usage a few years back. I've not found those yet. I'll have to use the search feature here. I thought I had bookmarked them. But I'm not seeing them at this time.

Related threads

»Insight AUP Violation ( separate thread from the first one by a similar name above.

»[News] Insight Columbus e-mails about running servers...

Still looking for the previous threads I'm wanting. But this does in fact show that Insight monitors the network and will send out a notice if they feel it is warranted.

Wow, i haven't gotten any emails yet so i hope they will warn me before cutting service. However, I dont run services, just subscribe to pay file services for high speed downloads. I dont use P2P or Bittorrent or run any services from my setup.

If insight would offer a Business Package with some extra features added on id glady go for it!

They offer business packages. But last time it was mentioned in this forum. It honestly seemed to me and others. That the business package didn't really offer anything different than the regular consumer package. This may have changed since then. Although I think some people have had problems trying to get information from their local office in regards to business services. So unless one of our trusted sources of information jumps in to provide us with new data. We might not be able to find out anything new in regards to business packages.

As I've said a few times in other threads. Insight is normally pretty liberal in regards to letting you actually use your bandwidth. From time to time they seem to experiment with ways to give a lower priority to certain types of traffic though.

If it were a connection you were making money off of, it would be a bargain. It's faster and cheaper than a T1.
