| tranzeo and/or deliberant?
Hello i just wanted to say i have been lurking around here for a while, and i have learned much from all you out there.
I have come to the point where i have decided to take the plunge and join your cast of merry men by starting my own wisp.
i have a deal for almost a hundred homes is a rual new subdivision. Plus access to a town 10,000 people big, with inside access to a huge plant that employs 3000+ people, most living close to/in town. all well paid.
right off the bat i am the first to say that i am weak in tcp/ip... but i am reading 2 books on the subject this week.
so i have some questions that i would love to get helped out with on here so i can hammer it into my brain! LOL
By reading out here i think i narrowed my radio's down to deliberant or tranzeo.
both seem to get EXCELLENT praise.
Question....
What do you like about each radio that might have it's pluses and minuses over each other.
Stuff like ease of use, monitoring, upgradable, reliable, bandwidth, price...etc.
thanks for your time.

(i want to stress the the freedom35 is there only because i could not get just "freedom", i have no illusions of getting rich quick.) |

| I have only used Deliberent.
I have not had a failure with the new 2300's The price is good The support is fantastic, best I've seen to be honest.
I can't tell you about the tranzeo at all
I also use Wrapboards or routerboards for the AP's with Star-os or Mikrotik on them. these are also very good.

| reply to freedom357 I use Deliberant and SmartBridges, no Tranzeo. Overall we feel the Deliberants are easier to install than the SBs. They have a higher maximum power and seem to have better receive sensitivity. The web interface works, but is not as easy as the SB SimpleMonitor. The management capabilities are not quite as nice as SB, either. -- Scott |

| reply to freedom357 Had a few probs with some Deliberant units but that's all been cleared up. If you do decide to go with Deliberant you'll be backed up 150% of the way by the customer service. If there's a problem, they'll do whatever can be done to fix it.
As for the Tranzeos we have a couple 5800 units set up and haven't had a single hiccup or glitch since the day we powered them up (Couple months ago). |

| reply to freedom357 I settled on Tranzeo, but have used Deliberant. Tranzeo seemed more professional in the appearance of the product, but I have had no problems with either product once in the field. Tranzeo's have been up for 3+ months with no problems at all. Although i have only had Deliberant in the field a few weeks, i have had no problems. I am deploying the other Deliberant i have today, and we will see how that one goes. I may order Deliberant's again in the future. |

1 edit | reply to Chele Use the website or the forum for good response. »www.deiberant.us/estore for products. »www.deliberant.us/forums for support. I have never called them, so I can not comment on how well they answer phone, etc., but the email and forum support is good. -- Scott |

| reply to freedom357 Thanks for all the responses so far all advice and things to watch out for are VERY much welcome.
I am trying hard to learn as much as i can.
any idea on what prices people are paying for both companies equipment out there?? (from 1 to 100 units)
also is there any word on ofdm (i thinks that it)is that the way to go in the future?
are any of these companies looking into offering it? (should i wait???)
2.4 or 5 ghz for future use of increasing bandwidth.
just stuff like that...
I am going to post some other questions on the forum on here too, hope you can all pop by and help me out.
thanks once again

| reply to freedom357 The Deliberant 2300 uses 802.11g which is OFDM and all Tranzeo products that offer either 802.11g or 802.11a are OFDM since the standards are that way.
OFDM does reduce multipath problems in areas with a lot of reflectivity (read urban or high density housing developments)
Both of these companies are using radios that make use of the 802.11 chipsets that are commonly found on the market. I would assume that when 802.16 chipsets become common they will begin to use them as well. |

| reply to freedom357 I have a lot of deliberant radios I use in both AP and client mode. They are rock solid for our wisp. I have close to 100 of them and they are the backbone of our wisp.
Customer support is the best I have ever seen and I live outside of the U.S. Another note for those who live outside of the U.S deliberant has always done a superb job with our orders. Orders are shipped usually the same day and they will work with you every step of the way.
Living outside of the states makes it harder to send back equipment if the radio fails. Deliberant with there low cost, high quality equipment, customer support, and so on I cannot afford to send back equipment ( as knowone can)With deliberant I have not had to send back one radio as of yet. This says a lot for there radios.
I have not used tranzeo as of yet but have posted some messages to get mmore info on them. I would like to try them as well to see how they do in the field.
If you go with deliberant I do not see how you could possible go wrong. |
