Is there someone who knows how to change the internal HDD (80gigs) for a 300gigs HDD in the PVR !
Maybe some links or something ...
I just want more space to record tv show ... 50 hours is not enough.
Thanks to all |

| The easiest and official solution is to add an external SATA disk. Maxtor makes some that are certified to work with the 8300 (Quickview Expander line). But I don't know if there is a hook the Videotron's firmware to prevent it. You should call customer service before buying one. |

| ...darn, that simple huh?...would've thought there was some kinna chassis intrusion detection...read somewhere they would deactivate the box if they find out...guess it was bull...
...what are the brand and model # of the hd you fit in?

Try to remember your HDD if you need to change the terminal from a Videotron technician...
Technician: "The guy was crazy, he takes his screw driver to take the HDD out and change it for a new one..." |

1 edit | reply to SpOuK30 That's pretty lucky, I'd say. There IS an intrusion detection, but I guess it was phased out in Videotron's port of SARA. Speaking of which, older versions of SARA did not even detect and format different hard drives...
Well, good to hear it's worked for someone now anyway!
For those feeling frisky, external SATA drives shouldn't be disabled on Explorer 8300's. Do note you have to get the Maxtors (and some WDs, I think) which specifically mention Explorer support, and that they're not officially supported by Videotron yet. |

| said by SpOuK30 :I dont know why videotron don't offer that service The price of a 80Gb HDD was expensive back a few years. They're still trying to sell the terminal with the price they paid for such small HDD.
More $$$ in their pockets. |
