Router Question relating to DNS Servers

I installed a new router on my new computer a week and a half ago. For some reason now I am getting very sporadic service. When I open Firefox to go to my homepage (My Yahoo) sometimes it won't connect and literally after closing firefox for 5 seconds and opening back up, it goes right to the sight. When I check my speeds they are fine...3700d and 370u. Last night, I was on the phone with a friend and was telling him about it, he said to do a tracert to yahoo and it didn't work either but when I typed the Ip of Yahoo it went right there with no problems.

Does this sound like a DNS problem, an Insight problem, or a router problem? By the way, before you ask, this computer is hardwired into this router, it is not wireless.

Thanks for your ideas!!

If you haven't done so already you might want to make sure the router is properly setup with the Insight network.

»Insight BB Forum FAQ »How do I set up a router on Insight?

If you've covered all the steps listed there. Then other troubleshooting steps would have to be looked into.

I always specify what dns server i want to use on the computer rather than relying on the dns proxy in the router. just a suggestion of a possible fix.

Thanks for your replys. I will try both of those suggestions but as of right now, things seem to be working okay. Not sure if Insight was having trouble last night or what. I do know that right before I hit the sack last night, my modem went completely out. I wonder if they work on the lines and stuff at midnight!!

They do work at times overnight so they don't disrupt service during peak usage hours.
