Re: PA Extreme Tier!

All is speculation. You could speculate that they too will go extreme and Adelphia doing Extreme now is saving their bottom line. If you think this is a good theory, I'm good with it.

Also keep in mind that I'm not in State College Proper. I'm in the town of Stormstown. There must be many neighboring small towns next to target areas getting Extreme that may/will get it also.

Who needs FIOS if adelphia is giving us extreme!! 16Mbit down 2Mbit up!! That is 1500-2000KB/sec downloads!! 250KB/sec uploads... I could definately handle that!
Problem is most server sites will not give you that. It will come to a point that it only helps you have multiple downloads going at once and not being slowed. The majority of FTP servers are alreadying limited FTP session rates.

As is emhankinson, i too live in the somerset area. Say Berlin to be exact, only a measly 9 miles away from somerset, so i am assuming, if somerset gets it, i get it.

I'm approx. 8 miles from the outer edge of State College. Hard to say what the criteria is for qualifying.

Qualifications are as follows.

1. You want more speed.
2. You read DSL Reports
3. You DO NO use johkal as a log in for DSL Reports

I still would rather have FIOS. FIOS has better pings, cable has slower pings. I have cable right now, it's not reliable, I hear that fiber optics is more reliable.

I am in the process of doing away with Verizon. I don't want any part of FIOS, not that they would even think about deploying it in my neck of the woods.

I used to have the extreme tier, but i never got constant speeds. Highest i ever got was 10 mbs. I switched to fios. Unvelievable speeds. Constant speeds during all day, not like cable when too many ppl is using it. Here is a speed test.

click START to re-test
Checking for Middleboxes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Done
running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 1.79Mb/s
running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 15.23Mb/s
The slowest link in the end-to-end path is a 10 Mbps Ethernet subnet
