After the last update i cant seem to get any of my custom player model skins installed. Does anyone know how to install custom player skins with counterstrike source? |

I dont know? Is it considered cheating now? I know in CS:CZ they stilled allowed everyone to use custom player skins with vac. Until a few days ago my skins worked fine. Dunno. Guess ill take it to the steam forums. |

I'm kinda having a similar problem, except mine's a little different.
In my case, ever since the update that introduced cs_assault, I have been unable to find a player skin that would replace the default Terrorist Model for anything. 
Compared to all the other skins and little "mods" that I have for my installation, the new default Terrorist skin is such a @#$%ing eyesore.

Well i registered on the steam forums but um they havent activated my account yet. I uninstalled Counterstrike Source then reinstalled it. It still wants to crash on map load with a memory error with any custom models installed. |

It should be banned. Whats going to stop me from making a bright orange model? Gives you an unfair advantage in dark areas and long range. Multiplayer games should remain a level playing field for everyone.
Just my opinion, sorry to hijack your thread.

| I would think that it's implied the kind of models that we were talking about weren't all one solid color or something blatantly stupid like that. 
As for me, a lot of the weapons models I have are those that are modeled after the real weapons, e.g. putting the pull-bar on the awp in the correct side, and so on.

I'm not accusing anyone, I'm just saying its possible to use it in a negative way. Which is why most leagues don't allow it. I just like to think I'm on an even playing ground with everyone else.
I suck as it is, I don't want my opponent to have an unfair advantage.

All T/CT models before the cs_assault update no longer work because of the new world animations (reloading, aiming, etc.). People are beginning to recompile their skins to support the new animations.
All other skins (hostages, the bomb, most weapons) are still compatible.
Custom skins are NOT cheats. CS and CS:S limits skins/models to those that are below a certain size and are of a certain colour. So no, you can't play with an orange skin with a 10 metre long AWP.
