Re: [DTA310] Firmware Recovery Thread

after fooling around some with my dtas this morning i've discovered that this combination of application and downloader will not let this dta boot into downloader mode (Reset -> Reset and execute Downloader Application), making it unable to accept any other firmware.
Application Code Version: SIP version 1.0 US (LDTK AR16O ) checksum e423
Downloader Code Version: 1.0 US (8x8 010221) checksum 9420

so maybe this should go into a list of bad combinations?

I don't know if you really want to 'fix' it, since it has the leadtek AR16O working, but if you do, Try the packet8 13.12 sip firmware. It matches that downloader code version..

Re: [DTA310] Firmware Recovery Thread

i'm not interested in fixing it back to packet8 firmware, i posted that so others who might wish to go back to packet8 firmware would realize its a dead end. thanks for the suggestion, i'll try that later today and post the results.

have a bunch of dta310

i got one to take leadtek 18d

Application Code Version: SIP AR18D (LDTK US) checksum cc7d
Downloader Code Version: 010208 (P8VO US) checksum 22af
Hardware Type: BVA8051S

any other dowloader won't take it. Do you know of a firmware which includes that downloader?

interesting to note...
packet8 firmwares update the downloader,
leadteks do not, as per leadtek web site and trial.

BTW anyone stuck with almost anything can try this firmware, which even p8 13.15 allows...
from there, almost anything takes...
besides leadtek 18D
I want 18D b/c message waiting light works on it with asterisk.

Are you saying that you don't know which P8 firmware version applies Downloader Code 010208???

I believe rcilink has a collection of P8 firmware in "inventory." Perhaps he (or somebody else) can try out the numerous firmware versions on a good DTA to see which one uses Downloader 010208.

I have LeadTek AR16O working with aterisk. The message waiting part does work too.

I made a choice to hack the asterisk code to change the message waiting NOTIFY string and it is happy (MSG light blinks on phone now, etc.)

Did you say you actually got the version 18 loaded on your DTA310? Did it lock-up or is it configurable?

Yes I am saying I haven't found one which installs 010208 downloader
Way it works for me, every packet8 firmware installs along with it a new downloader, leadtek does not. Any time i had mismatched which didn't work, flash with any packet8 and it works. problem is leadtek 18D seems to be picky, and only works on oem leadtek downloader, which you only get if you BUY the unit from leadtek, and lose once you flash with any packet8, or the one packet8 downloader it liked was 010208.

How did you set the msg waitng Notify to work with AR16O?
Also dial plan works fine for me on packet8 12.35 unlocked
x.T|*.T basically allows me to dial anything even if it starts with *
how do you set dial plans on the leadtek firmware?
their site was not much help to me...

Included screen shots of leadtek AR18D on dta310
I've tried hard and not managed to lock up any dta310.
try one packet8 after another (auto downloaders will only work if current firmware is packet8) until one takes, then use 12.35unl to unlock it and the put what you want on.

Re: [DTA310] Firmware Recovery Thread

Do you know which Packet8 frmware you had on your DTA310 before uploading AR18D? Based on what you wrote above, it sounds like you switched it to 12.35unl then AR818D. Is this correct?

Thanks,
Rizzo

Re: [DTA310] Firmware Recovery Thread

No, I upgraded one new adapter to AR18D
and did not check the version b4.
the next adapter while upgrading said page can't be displayed.
assuming it was a problem , i flashed it with AR17
it will not take AR18.
the "problem" turns out was that the ip changed from app mode to download mode, because its hostname changed.
easiest way around this is to reboot into download mode.
find it.
then flash.

this dta came from packet8's virtual office, i have one of these adapters, it ran mgcp to support the aastra phone's ASDI programming.

Re: [DTA310] Firmware Recovery Thread

Mike, is the DTA you're talking about a standard P8 DTA-310 device using the modified firmware (for AASTRA compatibility)? If so, did P8 provide you w/ a link to that firmware (and/or e-mail you a copy of that firmware)?

Please upload it here if you've got it.

Thanks!

Re: [DTA310] Firmware Recovery Thread

yes, the old white dta310. packet8 bundled it with a mgcp firmware and a powertouch 390. I bought the adapter on ebay and never thought about trying to get the mcgp firmware out of the thing before i overwrote it with the leadtek ar160 firmware. i've never seen this firmware anywhere. but it would certainly be handy for anyone with an ADSI phone and asterisk.

Re: [DTA310] Firmware Recovery Thread

I have a question. I only have one computer. Right now i have my cable modem plugged direclty into my computer, so i have no need of a router. I plan on hooking up a DTA310. Do i really need to buy a router to do this? Or can i just use the switch that i have laying around somewhere?

Re: [DTA310] Firmware Recovery Thread

You need a router or add additional network card in your PC to let PC act as router.

Well, you know. Nobody can tell you that you have to breathe, but of course if you don't you are going to die.
If you plan to use the DTA for any real length of time, then I highly recommend that you save yourself the on going problems and get yourself a router.
But that is just my advice.

Here is the MGCP firmware for a DTA310.

I did not test it, as I have no interest in using MGCP when SIP is available.

Does someone have a spare DTA310 they want to try this firmware on?

Re: [DTA310] Firmware - virtual office (MGCP)

I'll test it out next week when I have time to do so. If somebody else wants to test it sooner, by all means, please do!

Here is the MGCP firmware for a DTA310.
The hope was that this firmware would bring in the 8x8 download firmware (8x8 010208) that was reported to allow you to install the Leadtek AR18D firmware in the DTA. I tried it and it did not work for me.

At the end, I had 8x8 010222 downloader code. When I tried to install the Leadtek AR18D firmware, the application would not load. I was able, though, to reload my Leadtek AR17I firmware and the DTA is still useful.

When I first tried to install the DTA P8VO-116 firmware, the download said it was successful but when starting the application it did not come up but seemed "stuck". I had made the mistake of being connected to the internet and I realized that the unit was sending packets. My sniffer said they were to vo.packet8.net. I was able to reset the unit with the reset button, the phone off hook, and plugging in the power. It was at that point I tried to load the AR18D firmware. It said the download was successful but the application would not start.
