join:2004-05-28 Beverly Hills, CA | You should really use the clean comand switch and install ZA 6 from a fresh point of view, that way any buugs 5.5 had wont transfer over to the new 6.631.002 version.Visit the ZA forum on using the comand switch. |

| reply to John2g Yes it is working rather good for me also John2g,there is a Known Issue, but I will not comment on it as it will be addressed when the servers get turned on for Auto update information. As most will be able to tell you can click on Update and you will not be told there is a new version 4 download,ZL isnt turning on the Update servers till next week. |

| reply to Razgriz You shouldn't have any problems installing over a previous version. If you would feel better doing a clean install. Then backup your current settings ( using the backup feature in the software ) and then use the /CLEAN method to uninstall your current version.
It might be best to wait until sometime next week to install this latest build. Especially those of you who run a network. -- Test Your Security Cable Diagnostics Iggyz Blog ZoneAlarm Help |

| reply to Razgriz said by Razgriz :Can I install this over v5.5? or do I have to uninstall 5.5 first? IGGY is right, you can go right over the top of a previous version and expect success.
in fact, ZoneLabs now recommends it in their upgraqde instructions... "You may install ZoneAlarm Pro 6.0 on top of a previous version of ZoneAlarm Pro"
many users reported their success doing just that in this thread, when v5.5.094.000 was released a few months ago

My last upgrade to ZAP v5.5.094.000 went spotless with over-the-top install. I want to wait a bit before jumping to v6.0. ZoneAlarm Pro is currently working fine for me so I'd like to hear what other people say about the new version first. I'll wait long enough for ZoneLabs to notify me about the update (apparently sometime next week) just to be sure it likely won't break anything. |

| reply to bobolina i did go ahead and install the upgrade over top of an older version on one machine. naturally i created new drive images with Acronis TI first.
i was not reall happy with ZAP's failure to carry over my old settings.... not only Privacy settings, but also Program Control settings for both Access and Server. my settings have Ask straight across the board, but after upgrading, approximately 50% or more of these were set to Block. i can just imagine some users freaking out over their sudden inability to use half of their programs.
i did discover a faster way to reconfigure these settings without having to literally click on four places for each program (Trusted and Internet for both Access and Server). the secret (in case anyone is actually reading this far) is that the Internet Server setting will reset all four places.
if that does not make sense, you probably have not encountered the problem and don't worry about it...
i also have opted to NOT run the Anti-spyware app at this time, though i definitely intend to give it a whirl before too long.
