Yes I am saying I haven't found one which installs 010208 downloader Way it works for me, every packet8 firmware installs along with it a new downloader, leadtek does not. Any time i had mismatched which didn't work, flash with any packet8 and it works. problem is leadtek 18D seems to be picky, and only works on oem leadtek downloader, which you only get if you BUY the unit from leadtek, and lose once you flash with any packet8, or the one packet8 downloader it liked was 010208.
How did you set the msg waitng Notify to work with AR16O? Also dial plan works fine for me on packet8 12.35 unlocked x.T|*.T basically allows me to dial anything even if it starts with * how do you set dial plans on the leadtek firmware? their site was not much help to me... »www.leadtek.com.tw/eng/support/s···ial+plan
Included screen shots of leadtek AR18D on dta310 I've tried hard and not managed to lock up any dta310. try one packet8 after another (auto downloaders will only work if current firmware is packet8) until one takes, then use 12.35unl to unlock it and the put what you want on.

| No, I upgraded one new adapter to AR18D and did not check the version b4. the next adapter while upgrading said page can't be displayed. assuming it was a problem , i flashed it with AR17 it will not take AR18. the "problem" turns out was that the ip changed from app mode to download mode, because its hostname changed. easiest way around this is to reboot into download mode. find it. then flash.

this dta came from packet8's virtual office, i have one of these adapters, it ran mgcp to support the aastra phone's ASDI programming.

| Mike, is the DTA you're talking about a standard P8 DTA-310 device using the modified firmware (for AASTRA compatibility)? If so, did P8 provide you w/ a link to that firmware (and/or e-mail you a copy of that firmware)?
Please upload it here if you've got it.
Thanks! |

| yes, the old white dta310. packet8 bundled it with a mgcp firmware and a powertouch 390. I bought the adapter on ebay and never thought about trying to get the mcgp firmware out of the thing before i overwrote it with the leadtek ar160 firmware. i've never seen this firmware anywhere. but it would certainly be handy for anyone with an ADSI phone and asterisk.

| reply to rcilink I still wonder if a hardware workaround is necessary. Seems to me that the box could be "tricked" by software to force it to load a different firmware file. Obviously the box is requiring a certain combination of application and downloader codes. Can't the firmware file itself be modified to make the box think it has the proper application and download versions? I wish I knew more about programming, because maybe I'm missing something or this isn't as simple as it seems. Can you comment on a software crack of some sort rclink? BTW - I just tried all the firmware versions posted on the last page on both of my stuck boxes and had no luck. |

2 edits | reply to rcilink Hello all,
A couple of things to add, I have discovered that with downloader 1.0 US (8x8 010113) checksum 6fc71.0 US (8x8 010113) checksum 6fc7, I had to downgrade from 13.16 to 12.35 BEFORE I could load the AR160 Code. Otherwise it would fail to upgrade.
Secondly, while this loader fails to load the AR18D code (Completes upgrade without an error but reboots back into downloader mode), I am able to load SIP version 1.0 US (LDTK AR17I ) checksum efee. I have attached a screenshot, the AR171 Firmware and the Release notes.

2 edits | Wow did I have a scare! It took me a few tries to upgrade from AR16O (w/ downloader 8x8 010113) to AR17I.
At first I simply attempted an HTTP xfer. The router automatically attempted to reboot into d/l mode, and the HTTP transfer began. Shortly thereafter, a PAGE NOT FOUND appeared in the file xfer browser frame, and the xfer progress in the status bar stopped progressing. Lights initially flashed on the DTA but then stopped.
After HARD RESETTING the DTA (a few times), I didn't get a DHCP assigned IP address, and I couldn't figure out if it even had an IP address. Finally I rebooted my router and the DTA received it's original DHCP assignment (i.e. the static DHCP assignment I programmed into my router for my DTA's AR16O mac address).
The upload hadn't completed, so I was still on AR16O. I then re-attempted the same file xfer (w/o manually rebooting the router first), and once again there was a browser frame showing a page not found. The DTA itself was flashing constantly though, so I opened up another browser window, navigated to the DTA web-page, and saw the most spectacular thing:
The DTA-310 w/ an old Packet8 look 'n feel (including an old Packet8 logo) showing the "limited" Packet8 menu of options, but with a listed APP CODE of Leadtek AR16O!
I clicked on the "Reset" link (of the web-page showing a Packet8 look 'n feel), rebooted the DTA into downloader mode (which upon reboot continued to show the P8 look 'n feel), and re-attempted the upgrade to AR17I.
That upgrade succeeded w/o a hitch, and when it was done, it informed me that the update was successful. It then gave me the option to reboot the adapter into Application Mode (which I chose).
I'm back to the LeadTek look 'n feel and now have AR17I. I haven't yet re-configured my Stanaphone settings; however, it looks like there may be slightly more SIP config options in AR17I than AR16O.

1 edit | LeadTek AR17I Firmware, P8 Look 'n Feel |
I solved the mystery of the P8 look 'n feel w/ LeadTek firmware. If you take a LeadTek upgraded DTA and reboot it into Downloader Mode, it shows a P8 look 'n feel.
This makes sense because the downloader code installed is that of P8.
See attached screen shot.

1 edit | I couldn't leave well enough alone. I uploaded LeadTek AR18E (which the downloader app claimed was successful). Upon attempting to reboot the DTA, it's now dead. No indicator lights, no IP address, nuttin'.
Hard resetting does the standard light flashing; however, after it's done, it's back to DEAD.
There's no sound when picking up a phone plugged into it; however, it seems as though I can dial #'s. (I've only tested a cordless phone so far. Don't have a simple corded phone at my disposal @ the moment).
If you get AR17I installed, be happy w/ that. Don't get too greedy like me by attempting AR18D or AR18E.

EDIT: For those of you wanting to turn your DTA's into bricks, AR18E can be found here: »www.leadtek.com.tw/eng/voip_ta/d···19&act=3
The release notes for that firmware indicate that it's compatible w/ the 8051S (which is what AR16O / AR17I consider the DTA-310 to be). |

Based upon your posts above, I decided to flush my DTA to see if I get the PAGE NOT FOUND Message. This will occur if you do not have a static IP set on the DTA. When I attempt to load the AR18 firmware, it says that it loaded ok but, when I reboot it goes right back to the downloader menu. To try and restore your DTA, I would either reload AR160 or rclinks 12.35. I am now back to running AR17I without a problem.
I am attaching the corect AR18 for those brave enough to try.

I've got numerous firmware versions to attempt to load onto my bricked DTA; however, I have no means of doing so. I can't get to it's web-page, it doesn't show up in my router's DHCP table, it doesn't ping at the DHCP address my router assigns it, etc. It's a genuine BRICK (except for the fact that when you power it on, it shows a power light momentarily, and when you MASTER RESET it, it does the light show).

| When I initially power on the brick'd DTA, the red power indicator blinks as do the other three green led's. This lasts for all of 2 seconds.
When I attempt to do HARD RESET (via the RESET button), a flashy light show takes place for about 5 seconds (w/ various indicator lights blinking).
In all other cases, not a single indicator light blinks (nor stays lit). Plugging a phone into the phone port doesn't make a difference (nor can any DTMF tones be produced).
When I say I produced a brick, I mean it.

| Network Configuration via the Handset
Wait for at least 10 seconds after plugging in power to your DTA-310 pressing (not holding) the Reset button will then play your IP address (unless it is still waiting for one from your DHCP server).
If you do not have a DHCP server on your router or local network, you may need to set the IP address on your DTA-310 manually. Network settings for static/fixed IP address (including DNS) can be set by holding the Reset button in back of the DTA-310 while plugging in the power and typing them in via the handset: a) Hold the Reset button while you power-cycle the DTA. b) Release the button within 4 seconds of booting. c) You will hear a repeating high-pitched beep sound. d) Type in static/fixed IP address, net mask, gateway, and DNS address with digits, * and ''#''. After each entry is accepted the beep sound will lower in pitch (type ''#'' directly if you want to stay DHCP mode instead of a static/fixed IP address). For example: IP Address 192.168.1.10 Net Mask 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.1.1 DNS 63.209.12.18
would be the following key sequence: Reset button (high beep) 192*168*1*10# (lower beep) 255*255*255*0# (lower beep) 192*168*1*1# (lower beep) 63*209*12*18# (four beeps to indicate complete)

p.s. many routers have static ip by mac address, you can try that.
earlier in this thread, i posted a few packet8 auto uploader links. you can try those, they scan your network. I've had "bricks" before. I use them all the time... |

| I actually tried the above last night, and although I was able to (theoretically) assign a STATIC IP, the DTA wasn't accessible at that IP address.
I've also tried a couple of auto-updaters, and they couldn't find the DTA.
Now that I think about it, I don't recall if I've attempted the auto-updater apps after attempting to assign my DTA a STATIC IP. I'll try that tonight.

| reply to rcilink Re: [DTA310] Add a Serial Port to your DTA310
Here's a glimpse into the RCI labs and the project that is currently being tested. I thought I had all the parts-- just to find out that I dont! Anyhow, here is a PDF showing the process we will perform to add a serial port to the DTA310 device.
If this proves to be successful, I will probably build a connector using 'pogo pins' that can sort of float on a working DTA310 unit, to interact with the serial port without using any solder..
NOTE: this is still in the testing phase, so I make NO guaranty that you will have positive results. Worse case, you can use the DTA310 to keep your car from rolling..
More to come... |
