| [DTA310] Firmware Recovery Thread
I know several here have a DTA310 with it having a 'half-loaded' firmware set.
Examples of common problems might be:
1. I was running firmware 12.39 in my DTA310 and I decided to load firmware 11.11. Now, it is stuck and I can not upgrade to any firmware.
2. I have a DTA310 that tells me "no application loaded" and is stuck in a downloader mode.
It appears that this happens when the boot/downloader firmware gets out of sync with the application firmware.
So, if this idea proves to be correct, and you find yourself with a 'stuck' DTA310, think of it this way. You need to try loading the previous firmware back into the DTA310.
For example, I have a DTA310 with the following firmware on it:
Application Code Version: DTA version 1.0 US (8x8 001315) Downloader Code Version: 1.0 US (8x8 010225) So, that tells me that if I load firmware 11.11 and the downloader is at 010225, i might be lucky enough to be able to re-load 13.15 and get my DTA310 'un-stuck'.
Maybe with everyone's help we could start a list here of firmware matches (Application code version + Downloader code version).. So, if your stuck with a downloader code that does not match the application code, you can find which real firmware contains that downloader code version and reload it.
It beats tossing the thing... |

| Here is the LeadTek AR16O firmware signatures (code versions)
Application Code Version: SIP version 1.0 US (LDTK AR16O ) checksum e423 Downloader Code Version: 1.0 US (8x8 010113) checksum 6fc7 Got the downloader code version "010113" ? Stuck with the wrong application code (old P8 firmware) matched to that? If you have that downloader code version, try reloading the AR16O firmware to see if it makes the DTA310 happy (matched firmware set, so the DTA310 knows where the starting address of the application is). |

Downloader Code Version: 1.0 US (8x8 010220) Does somebody know what firmware matches this downloader version. I have tried upgrading to every version I have without success.
Somebody posted a fix? How did I miss it. |

1 edit | reply to rcilink Here's what my 2 DTA's look like:
DTA #1 (connected to P8):
Application Code Version: DTA version 1.0 US (8x8 001315) Downloader Code Version: 1.0 US (8x8 010225) DTA #2 (Leadtek AR16O Firmware):
Application Code Version: SIP version 1.0 US (LDTK AR16O ) checksum e423 Downloader Code Version: 1.0 US (8x8 010113) checksum 6fc7 Looks like I've got the same settings as rcilink.

| reply to rcilink Re: [BPA410] stuck.. no response to anything!
Here's an observation..
They updated the downloader code (version 010225) to break the LeadTek firmware from loading into the BPA410. If you try to load it, it says "download failed".
I installed firmware 13.12 (with downloader code 010221) and it let me then update the firmware with LeadTek AR16O..
Unfortunately, the thing got munged! Now, I can not access the web interface (no DHCP info from my server), and even tried to code-in a static IP address via the phone handset at boot. nada.
So, I took the cover off, looking for the ultimate solution. Staring at me is that 40-pin Host Interface. In the BPA410, I can see where most of the traces go, so I will begin mapping it out to build a programming interface. Once complete, it will read/write any DTA310 or BPA410 device. the ultimate recovery tool!
BTW, did someone post here that they were successful with the LeadTek firmware on their Packet8 BPA410 device? I would love to know what version of P8 firmware was on the thing before they put the LeadTek firmware on it.. |

| reply to rcilink Re: [DTA310] Firmware Recovery Thread
A thought: If the main reason we can't recover from a firmware update is because of a mismatch between the firmware and downloader version numbers, can't we just modify the code in the firmware (bin) file with the needed downloader version number? Does that make sense? |

they need to remove the Thread about downgrading to 11.11 and then upgrade to 12.22 |

| reply to Test99 The DTA I'm using for p8 has: Application Code Version: DTA version 1.0 US (8x8 001312) Downloader Code Version: 1.0 US (8x8 010221)
I'm not about to test the leadtek firmware on it until I know that I can get it back.
We need to know what Downloader Code Versions can go back to 11.11 and which can't.
Has anyone had a problem going back to 11.11 that didn't install the leadtek firmware? |

| I simply upgraded my DTA from whatever "current" P8 firmware was on it at that time to Leadtek AR16O. I suspect this was around P8 firmware 12.35, 12.38, or 12.39.
Perhaps downgrade your DTA to 12.35 first, then upgrade to AR16O.

| reply to rcilink Is there a seperate FlashROM chip inside? If it is, it can be removed (hopefully socketed, but if soldered, it can still be done) to be programmed by a EPROM programmer and then put back there. Best is to have a working unit to clone from, since the flash bin might not cover the whole memory, so it could just be some segments.
I don't have a unit, but 2 of my friends do, but I'm not sure if I can take theirs out to disect though. |

maybe these broadcasts are responsible for some of these problems? |

| That is interesting.. most of your DTA310 units loaded with the LeadTek AR16O firmware have different downloader code.. I guess having the DTA310 stuck with LeadTek AR16O is not as bad as being stuck at P8 11.11.
As for the ICMP, is there an option in SIP Extensions to enable/disable that? |
