Re: $30.00 deals

I got so tired of hearing their commercials on TV about the $30 deal so I called them 3 times in a row. 1st time I was told it's not for existing customers. I told them I had been a broadband customer for 3 years. She said you probably got a special when you signed up. I said no I did not and I've been paying $44.95 for 3 years. She said well I'm sorry but the promotion is for new customers. And I said so you don't care about existing customers. She said they were working on a "deal" for existing customers. I said okie dokie and hung up.

I called right back and got a different rep. I asked for the same deal and was told the same thing. However, this rep was a little more concerned. She told me I might be able to get the deal if I added something such as a digital cable box for $5 per month. She put me on hold while she asked her supervisor. In a while we were disconnected. I figured they did that on purpose.

So I called right back and got a different rep again. I explained it all to her and told her the name of the rep I was talking to before the disconnection. So she put me on hold and consulted with the last rep I was talking to. She came back and said if I would add anything they would give me the $30 deal. It just so happened that we were cancelling Dish Network. So I said I'd like to get classic cable back (an upgrade from basic cable). She said sure. So I got the $30 deal for at least 1 year.

What she did was cancel my existing insightbb and signed it back up as the promo. All my emails stayed the same though. After that I couldn't connect so I called tech support and he got it fixed in no time.

BTW, it has been 6 weeks and I've heard of no promo for existing customers. They're just buying time until the promo ends whenever that will be.

Just an FYI again for people wanting this new "deal". Most of us with digital cable are only paying $34.95 for our internet service right now. That is with the $10 discount. That is our current promotion that lasts for as long as we stay on it or want it to last. For new customers, and if you somehow manage to get the $30 deal, it isn't as good as it sounds. I was told by a rep that it is only for the first year, which I think we all know. They key is, after that first year. You won't get your $34.95 price again. After your year of the $30 price runs out you will go to the regular $44.95 and thats even if you have digital cable. You won't get the $10 discount, that's an old promotion. Think about it before you do it. I'd rather pay my $34.95 forever rather then save $5 for a year and then have it go up $10 higher then what I am paying now after that.

$34.95 forever? Nothing's forever. When I first got @Home broadband it was only $29.95. When Insight took over existing customers stayed at that price but were later raised to $34.95. I canceled because of the hike. A few months later I signed back up and was faced with $44.95. Eventually they will do away with the $10 digital discount and drop the rate for everybody to $34.95.

You're right... it's possible. And I know nothing is forever. Basically the rep explained it to me that my deal would last as long as I stayed on the plan. It doesn't expire after a year like the other.
