| [News] Notification of Network Maintenance
Dear Insight Broadband Customer,
We are writing to notify you of scheduled maintenance that may affect your Insight Broadband High Speed Internet service and your persistent IP reservation.
On July 13th and 14th, 2005 between the hours of midnight and 7AM your service may be interrupted while we perform necessary maintenance to improve the reliability and efficiency of your High Speed Internet connection. We have scheduled this required maintenance during a time of day when the least number of our customers would be affected. For those of you who would be using your service during this time we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding during this period of maintenance.
In addition, due to the nature of this maintenance, your IP address may change. To minimize the length of time your service may be interrupted please be sure that your devices are configured to obtain your IP address using DHCP. Once your device has obtained your new IP address, please be sure to visit sas.r31.insightbb.com to reserve your new IP address as a persistent IP.
If you have any questions about this or any other aspect of your service, please call your local Insight Broadband provider.
Sincerely,
Insight Broadband Network Operations

@insightBB.com | reply to IGGY It would be nice if Insight were to send a notice like this to all of their customers. Once again, Customer Service with them has gone to shit. |

| This may in fact just be area specific. We have seen this happen in the past. There have been many times recently when others received this type of notice and I saw nothing in my inbox. So this may just be something specific to this area. -- Test Your Security Cable Diagnostics Iggyz Blog ZoneAlarm Help |

| Not Normal |
Well since early this morning when maintenance started. My speeds have been reporting very low on the speed test - using the Chicago IL test from Speakeasy and others there.
Download Speed: 1708 kbps (213.5 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 471 kbps (58.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
I did an OOL ftp test this morning and saw similar results. I'm going to look at some things on my end and see if I can't resolve the problem. Browsing seems perky. But I'm not sure that everything is at should be.
»ttester.broadbandreports.com/twe···a=normal
Same result I was seeing early this morning. Normally no matter what time of day. I get 600 or actually way above that on that test. I rebooted the modem this morning after things came back online. Guess I'll try that again.
Everything is looking ok on my end though. -- Test Your Security Cable Diagnostics Iggyz Blog ZoneAlarm Help |

| reply to IGGY I think this maintenance broke something. I'm still seeing horrid results with real world downloads and when doing speed test. If this is considered helping the overall quality of the network. Please put things back they way they were. The network worked great for me before this supposedly helpful service work. -- Test Your Security Cable Diagnostics Iggyz Blog ZoneAlarm Help |

| Ugghh - I hate you - lol. Just joking. I had to reboot and slap a few things around this morning - just to get online. I'll check the OOL ftp again later this morning. But testing a regular download and doing a speed test gave negative results this AM. My account looks properly registered with Insight. So that shouldn't be the cause. I've rebooted the modem a couple of times as well. Sometimes a reboot works the smog out - rarely - but on occasion the cob webs disappear with a reboot. -- Test Your Security Cable Diagnostics Iggyz Blog ZoneAlarm Help |

| My speeds are still in the toilet. I'm doing a blog post with details on this and a call I got yesterday. Either way this isn't acceptable. Everything ran perfectly fine until they started screwing around with things on the backend. I'm already unhappy I have to waste this coming Monday waiting for a technician to bring me the new DVR box. Which everyone else has been able to just swap out at their local office. Now for going on three days. I'm getting less bandwidth than I'm paying for. And yes I've confirmed this for three straight days with real world downloads at different times of the day. I'm not like everyone else and just relying on speed test sites.
But I know if I call the local office. It'll be - lets go through all the basic crap - reboot modem - stick thumb in nose - spin head around. Then I'll get the excuse of oh it's your router or you must be infected with spyware or a virus - um do you know who your talking to? I'd be more than aware if I got nailed with a nasty. Basically the blame would be upon the customer not the network. Which yes - in many cases the customer in fact can be blamed for the issue. But this isn't a very customer friendly way of handling service calls. And even though I'm more than aware that their are procedures to follow ( even though these seem to vary from city to city - even though everyone is supposed to be working for the same company ). Sometimes it's easier to just cut to the chase. Meaning ask the customer what they have tried and the results. Also making sure that all divisions of the company communicate would help. This way - those answering the phones on the front line - will in fact be clued in when the network is having problems. -- Test Your Security Cable Diagnostics Iggyz Blog ZoneAlarm Help |

I need to get the other Java version to get the diagnostic software I really like up and running again.
You won't be able to get an information from DocsDiag unless you have a certain password. It's been posted in this forum before - but I don't have time to go digging for it. IM me on this site if you want it.
Since Insight tightened things down a bit. The password is needed as far as I'm aware. -- Test Your Security Cable Diagnostics Iggyz Blog ZoneAlarm Help |
