| Both cameras will produce excellent images in the right hands. However, both can produce subpar images compared to even P&S cameras if not used correctly.
Basically just a matter of preference. Around here I bet the Canon would win the majority.

| reply to koreandude79 LOL. Sometimes I think these are old threads because they get started all the time....
I choose the 350D over the D70 for three simple reasons.
#1) It was cheaper #2) It has some features that the D70 dosnt have. Like MLU (mirror lock up). (MLU might not be important to some, but it is to me... ) #3) It's 8MP as apposed to 6MP (not a huge difference, but again, it is to me) -- "We didn't lose the game; we just ran out of time." | reply to koreandude79 It's certainly not worth getting stressed over - all modern DSLR's are fine machines - pick the one that feels good in your hands or the one that you feel will impress your mates - whatever - the camera is just a tool and won't make a bad photographer a good one. |

Both cameras are completely capable of producing great images and terrible images. The difference between 6MP & 8MP isn't even worth squabbling over really unless you are printing larger then 11x14" prints for professional reasons and even then the difference is negligible. Go see which you like the feel of better and which price tag fits your budget the best but remember to leave some $$ for extra memory cards and accessories. -- I spent a $3300 on a dSLR and lens to take good pics but people with cheaper stuff take better pics... | reply to koreandude79 I'm with everyone else. Go down to the store and try both out.
Personally, I own a Canon, and I like it. Remember, in the SLR world, your investing in the damn lenses not the camera body. -- I picked up a Magic 8-Ball the other day and it said 'Outlook not so good'. I said 'Sure, but Microsoft still ships it.' |

They are both good sytems. Go to the store and see which one feels the most comfortable to you to hold and use. No one camera is right for everybody.

| reply to koreandude79 Think not which body you want, but which brand of accessories you want to accumulate over time.
Once you buy a $1000 body and $3000 worth of lenses and accessories down the line, which body upgrade for another $1000 do you think you're going to get next time? Once you've chosen one or the other camp, you're pretty much gonna be stuck in it.
Personally I think Canon has a better lens lineup and a lead with the technology, but just barely. Both camps have merit and will no doubt be around forever.

| Problem is with 3rd party manufacturers like Sigma, Tamron, & Tokina making products equal to and in some instances better then the OEMs with a price tag cheaper then the OEM product buying into the "system" or "accessories" just doesn't quite matter as much as it used to. -- I spent a $3300 on a dSLR and lens to take good pics but people with cheaper stuff take better pics...
