| Remote Desktop Connection Port Help
Okay, I have two computers, we'll call them A and B. Computer A has XP Pro and Computer B has XP Home.
I'm working with RDC, and trying to get this all worked out, but for some reason computer A can't connect to computer B, but computer B connects to computer A fine.
I've narrowed my issue down to what I believe is the problem, but I don't know how to fix it. On computer A (the one that can be connected to), port 3389 is listening, as it should be. But on computer B ( the one that can't be connected to), port 3389 is not listening. I don't know if it makes a difference, but computer A is directly hooked up to the router while computer B is wireless.
So, given that the port listening issue is my problem, how can I get computer B to listen to port 3389 and be able to accept incoming remote calls from computer A?
TIA. -- It takes two to lie, Marge. One to lie, and one to listen. |

| Make sure RDC is enabled on the 2nd computer:
1 Click Start | Control Panel and select the System applet. 2 Click the Remote tab. 3 Under Remote Desktop, make sure the Allow users to connect remotely to this computer checkbox is unchecked. |

You can only use Remote Desktop Connection to access an XP Professional computer. Thanks for the quick responses guys. Look at using UltraVNC as an alternative for access/control of your XP Home box. In my experience its very fast over a local LAN, particularly if you disable the remote PC wallpaper while in the session...
