| Can someone explain why PCs have green motherboards? Couldn't they make it some other colour, I know my ATI video card is red which sure looks better than green. I think the inside of PCs would look a lot better if the motherboard was a dark grey or even a dark blue.

Also, Apple used to color code motherboards to symbolize what part of the development cycle they're in... I don't know if they do this anymore.

If you've ever seen a really cheap circuit board that is brown like the color of cardboard, that's one where no soldermask was used. Other colors are possible, as you've noticed.

If I recall correctly, the first green motherboard I saw was inside a box running Win3x. When I commented about the green color, the installer said something about builders knowing the architecture of the motherboard by its color. i still don't' know if the statement was true or not - but it sounded good to someone who never saw the inside of a PC before, . | |

I think maybe they will come up with something new and move away from the "G" series. And are they even going to call them powermacs and powerbooks anymore, since they won't be powerpc based, we shall see. Very possible this will turn into an all new generation of apple designs.

It says they couldn't achieve above 800x600 because Windows didn't have drivers for the wacky video card in the machine.
