Not much difference here between 8 Mbps and 15 Mbps, unless you have a lot of users in your home or business.
There's NO difference between 1.5 and 100 for alomost all uses except P2P. More bandwidth does not mean reduced latency; very few users seem to get that.

the man said it right the 1st time. the increasement of bandwidth ONLY affect the amount of people that is employing the network. The individuals share less resources. the web sites will allocate the bandwidth in the same manner rendering the increase of speed useless.

In relations to up speed one can host a server in the confines of their own home.

People hear speed increase and without knowing the logistics behind it go crazy. For me just give me a product that works

All networks are "Shared" access. AFter all, that's what being networked means.

With DSL, access is shared at the CO. What had set DSL apart in the past was that the Big Honking Switch at the Telco CO had lots and lots of capacity. They were designed and engineered to offer direct links to the big massive telco circuits that your government helped to subsidize.

Cable Internet, in it's infancy,(only 10 years ago btw) was built by private investor monies, and took advantage of the infrastructure that carried Television and was already deployed by the MSO into the neighborhoods.

What the Docsis 3.0 technology will do, is bring the same kind of Capacity into the neighborhood that the Telco switch does. Sure it's shared, but we're taking about GigabitEthernet type capicities now, not 5/10/100 Megabit capacity your used to seeing in older Docsis 1.0 CMTS'.

Docsis3.0 will mitigate that long standing shortcoming in the technology that had Cable haters and DSL lovers screaming about "shared access sucks", when all the time, they themselves rode shared access at the telco CO, but never noticed it because of the great capacity of Telco switches.

I suggest you read the white paper on the technology:

Not much difference here between 8 Mbps and 15 Mbps, unless you have a lot of users in your home or business. As an individual user, there is not much difference at this point, since most download sites are not that fast yet.

2 Mbps vs 512 Kbps (x4 increase) now that is something, if you are doing a lot of uploads or run mail and/or web servers.

I hope this is the start of a trend...

Now those are speeds i would jump on in a sec. Not some crappy 8dl / 512up that TimeWarner is offering on there Premium tier.
Man, when will people be happy? TWC's 8dl is crappy? You were just on a 56k modem just 5 years ago...

I can see it now... I can't wait for that 200dl, because that 150dl is just too crappy.

This is just too funny.
Or the "Yea, so you can hit your D/L cap faster!!"

These speeds that we see here could just be the beginning of a HSI revolution. I hope. Price remains a consideration.
