| $1300 install
I Live in the Louisville Ky. area and recently inquired about having insight broadband service installed at my house. They tell me that since my house is 320' from the distribution box in the front yard that the install will cost me $1300. This is just to get it to the house which is already wired. My neighbor just got installed for free and he is about 200'. Anyone know if this is correct? 320' just doesn't seem to be that far. |

| Thanks for the reply. There is a driveway to go under but I had conduit installed when it was poured and all they would have to do is pull it through 10' of conduit. Would take them about 2 min. $4.00 per foot seems excessive for a simple 320' RG-11 cable run. |

| reply to huzier 300' is 'technically' Insights official longest length for drop cable. After that length they use feeder (hardline). If you truly have a dt/tap 320' from your electric meter on the side of your house RG-11 could be used. There is a possibility (a good possibility) that you would need a forward/return drop ampilifier installed in your house too. The charge for this amp should be under $100. I do not know much about the louisville system, but if you don't find any head way by talking to the install supervisor, and again, you know for sure that there is a tap to plug in to 320' from your electric meter at your house, you could by a spool of RG11, run it yourself, then call for the install. the $1200 would have to be a charge to run feeder to your house. You could probably get them to agree to running it on rg11, maybe w/ some sort of 'no guarantees' type deal. I dunno... good luck. |

| This is the reply from insight. Thank you for your sales inquiry. Your home must reside within 125 feet of an existing cable tap in order to be serviceable. If your home exceeds this requirement and you would like to have our service, you can also pay for the cost of construction to have our cable built closer to your home. |

| reply to huzier Wow... I had a free install and I'm at around 200 feet. Nor problems at all. They never even mentioned my distance.
My parents home is another story. They are about 450 feet or so... they can't get it for anything. We've tried and tried and they want a furtune. |

| Finally was able to contact construction supervisor and he said he doesn't know why I was quoted such a high install price. I scheduled a free intall for july 5th. Installer came out and installed 330ft of rg11 without any kind of amplifier. Now if I can just get them to come and bury it before the ground freezes this winter! Getting good speeds and so far am very happy with service. |

@insightBB.com | What is the name of the person you talked to? My friend was also quoted a very high price to get cable installed. |

| reply to huzier Good luck on getting it barried soon! LOL Mine was in my yard all winter long. I had it installed in September and had to move it to mow a few times last year. Luckily they barried it before I mowed this year but barely. It was like March or April? |
