About time!

AOL serves 20-21 million customers. Strictly from a business standpoint they should have done this along time ago. Granted not many people that visit DDR most likely use AOL but there is still a crap load of folks who still live and die by AOL. A lot of folks who have not switched from dial up to broadband have not done so because they think it would be to complicated. AOL will help those folks take that giant step.

Can we stop bashing Amercian companies for like 5 minutes? Some of you people who want AOL to die should think of all the folks that work for AOL and grandma/grandpa who only connection to WWW is AOL.

I wouldn't call it bashing. I would call it mockery of a ridiculously poor business strategy.

But it is one they are trying to correct, personally I think they will slowly be coming to their senses that the AOL client is a big waste of money and man power. But the content of AOL is far superior to any other Cable companies own portal.

CNN published a story about AOL buying Time Warner in January of 2000. Wouldn't the next logical step be to offer AOL via that giant cable company they just purchased? Of course it took some time to be approved, but that still gives the companies time to prepare their strategies. For AOL to go for over five years without utilizing TWC seems absolutely insane. Scratching your head at this lethargy has nothing to do with bashing AOL or its users. If you like AOL and want it to succeed, you'd want to see it available to TWC's 18.8 million homes, no?

What i dont understand is that AOL DID THIS ALREADY 5 years ago. They offered AOL Broadband where they switched dial up users over to broadband (cable/time warner and DSL-whoever your telco was) and you were billed under AOL. I know..i had AOL broadband 3 years ago. Dont confuse this with BYOA..it was AOL BROADBAND.
They stopped offering AOL broadband about a year and a half ago.
