like it or not that's the way it has been. it looks like they have more compatible hardware now. it used to be only a few linksys routers were compatible.

the WRT54GS v2 is compatible with firmware 3.37.6
I know this because I originally bought a WRT54GS when it came out but returned it because it did not work with XBL. Apparently the v2 now works. -- www.thfx.com |

| Well I'm still skeptical on this one. Not only do to the tone of your reply. But do to the fact that it has been shown many times that equipment not on the "approved list" will in fact work. My thought is that the list your linking is more of a guide to routers Microsoft has tested to work with the XBox.
"like it or not that's the way it has been."
For the record - who said I like or disliked anything. It is a pure stupid business move to make your product only capable of working with other "approved" hardware. I know some companies have made a killing off of keeping their product "closed". But with a gaming product that has internet access for online game play. It's rather short sighted to make a product that only works with limited amount of routers on the market. And it seems even more ignorant. Do to the fact that ( if memory serves me right ) Microsoft partnered with Linksys to make an official connection device.
With that said. As you've noted a simple firmware upgrade seems to rectify the matter. So not that big of a deal. -- Test Your Security Cable Diagnostics Iggyz Blog ZoneAlarm Help |
