Rumor: SBC is lowering the dsl price to $14.95 tmr

Rumor has it that SBC is lowering the dsl price to $14.95 for 1 yr plan starting 6/1 in CT. Wonder if it's a nation wide price drop.

Any SBC techie out there to confirm that?

I've heard that there was to be a price cut nationwide, but no specifics as to the pricing.

I hope they drop the Pro prices down to 24.95 at least, that would be very sweet and awesome ! :D

Re: Rumor: SBC is lowering the dsl price to $14.95

New accounts only, web orders only, at least to start.

Here's the probable reality. They'll open it up to existing customers once the EPC reps catch up with processing the web orders.

I've asked members not to spaz out about this in SBC - Ameritech, tie up the phone lines, etc, all so they could get their pricing lowered 15-20 days earlier, not to mention the frustration ON BOTH ENDS of techs saying no to people.

Really. A sour stomach, time on hold, multiple calls and expenses... don't press it. We've been through this many times over the past few years.

Please... let's make this site look good for a chance and not rush, whine, and complain.

Hmm..check out my SBC ebill for this month. My local phone connection is the $19.90. The HBS includes my long distance calls. What puzzles me is the SBC internet services fee (I have SBC Yahoo DSL Express)

Re: Rumor: SBC is lowering the dsl price to $14.95

For the most recent (service date 05/11/05) it shows your DSL fee as $49.95, but with a $30.00 discount. That comes to $19.95. There is an additional FUSF fee of $1.47

I'm not sure where they get the total of $14.84

Re: Rumor: SBC is lowering the dsl price to $14.95 tmr

I know..weird. I renewed my contract last month for the $19.95 deal, so it should come out to $19.95 for the SBC DSL fee. Oh wells, I'm not complaining if they're lowering my fee.

Ahh, looks like they're prorating you for a partial month at the old price, the rest at the new price. Wait one more billing cycle and see, I'll bet this all goes away and you see the $49.95 -$30.00.

That's probably the reason why ( I did call to renew during middle of month). Well, if the 14.95 rumor is indeed true, then I hope the Pro tier is just a bit more so I can upgrade .

Yes, it is true, provided you sign up for an entire year using SBC's webpage. I tried to do so this morning, and although I currently have DSL over the SBC backbone with another provider, SBC's web-interface insists that DSL is unavailable for my line.

Any thoughts?

At this price point I was able to justify DSL for my place in the mountains so that I can work from there on some Fridays. I was waffling at $20, but the extra $5 pushed me over the edge.:D

I agree completely. It's best, if speaking with a rep, to be cordial and respectful. If they do not have the information, just let the rep know you'll call back at a later time. As much as many people want to save, at the same time, it is best to wait until green light is given for those that are existing.

Haha. I just got wind of this deal today and immediately placed a call. I just got my DSL Pro plan lowered to $29.99 about two months ago and it was easy as pie. I called, requested the change, and they did it. This time, however, was different. I got transferred around twice and each time, they gave me the "it's only for new subscribers who sign up online" spiel. Yeah, I kinda lost it with the third rep and started to be a Disgruntle Customer. Hehe.

Ah well. As implied, it looks like the plan will be opened to existing customers in due time. I'll hold off my rage.
