| [SR] 3way calls & call transfer latency
I have been running tests on the gizmo for a couple of days. Has anyone used 3 way calling? I have tested with just the gizmo alone on my network. When I do a 3way call to Pots the latency and jitters are horrible. I can count to 20 before it reaches the other line. Call transfer is just as bad or worse. I think that the whole process is going through the gizmo instead of on the sip server. It also seems to change the codec from 711 to 729. Has anyone had these issues? |

| reply to voiplover I just did a few quick tests of gizmo and 3 way. I had no additional latency problems, even if I used Packet8 for one of the calls. I did 12 test calls using my SunRocket and alternating between Verizon, cell and P8 for testing. Three way worked fine but transfer did not. I'll work on that later with real calls after I read the instructions. Both legs of a 3 way consume full bandwidth or about 160 Kbps, or 180Kbps if P8 is used. I'm using Verizon FiOS 5/2, my router does shaping and QOS on all adapters and my pings to SR are about 3 ms.. |

When you flash over to your other line it actually plays music for the caller placed on hold.
And I like how SunRocket does not care if you use your service for "business use" -- »www.joako.com |

| reply to cbrain Thanks for the heads up. You are right. If I transfer a call the calls work great. I even shut my network down and the transfer still remained working. 3 way calls are still having serious issues with packet loss and ~20 second latency. It is more than likely my broad band if it works fine for you. I'll have to take it to a better network. Thanks CBrain. |

I have a few other sales persons that I am looking to transer over to Vonage for business. The only down to SunRocket for business is the lack of a dedicated fax line, but I could get a free number. -- Rich**Vonage Business User & SunRocket Home User** |

| reply to voiplover Here is the TOS. It fits in the context of my business use ("home office usage patterns") but maybe for a salesperson it would not.
Residential Use. The Service is intended for residential use. You are expressly prohibited from using the Service for autodialing, telemarketing (including without limitation charitable or political solicitation or polling), continuous or extensive call forwarding, fax broadcast, fax blasting or any other activity that results in excessive usage inconsistent with normal residential or home office usage patterns.
In addition when I signed up I put the first word of my business name as my "First name" and the second word as my "Last name." For outgoing calls the name that is shown is the complete business name as sit should appear, no comas, etc. I have called SunRocket twice since then and they have not said anything about it (it is obviously a business name -- no person would ever be named that). -- »www.joako.com |
