The cards are very new on the market. We will start selling them once our beta testing is complete. We are testing for overheating issues since we deploy in hot areas (Texas) where the shade can easily get over 100 degrees.

Another thing is the cards seem to be back logged in sales from several vendors. This is due to vendors taking orders months before the product was actually released.

We have also reviewed the outdoor case and found one big probelm so far. The rubber gramet falls out of the unit, once you open the box up. This would be a problem if you ever had to open the unit up on a tower. The seal refits in with little to no hassel but again it would be a pain on a tower. Nothing like dropping the seal to your access point while being stuck in the air. We tested the enclosure several times and it fell out every time we re-opened the box.

hello,

Not anyone will like that feature.... but i need that kind of power because i will like to make indoor wireless LAN using Outdoor way... so My Access Point must be strong enough to penetrate the wall or windows...to serve the user inside the building, from outdoor access point.

Now are you satisfy with my answer..even the good antenna will not going to pull anything from nothing Antenna is antenna they just work like kind of reflector, without anything (power) to concentrate on, they are nothing ... am i right ???

Im am not Wifi guru ... so please correct me if im wrong with any of the statement ... anyways this forum was really great among the great ....

I got the new AP that possibly have 1 Watt Power ... it from Demarctech, here is the link »www.demarctech.com/products/reli···/rwv.htm please look at the pricing and spec / Model number RWV-3110GHA they got 2 radios... the first radio is 1 Watt B/G and the second is a/b/g radio with 100 mW power . Anyone ever use this product please review it performance to me ...

Well, while power will sometimes help with going thru walls etc., It will NOT help if the walls have metal, or other dense types of material. If it were me, I would skip the power, and engineer my wireless network with more access points and repeaters. An access point with 1 watt and a low gain omni could be Your worst nightmare, as it would not only allow You more distance, but it would also pull in noise from all over. The extra noise in Your system could destroy any gain from the higher power, completely defeating Your entire idea?.:)

Re: Anyone using 1 watt Access point ??

Just so you know...
As of 1st November 2004, the allowable EIRP in Malaysia for the 2.4GHz spectrum (IEEE 802.11b/g) has been reduced to 500mW (27dBm).
Utilizing a 1 watt amplifier (especially since this is before adding antenna gain), would contravene the law. Of course, unless you have a heck of a long cable run
Please do try to keep within the allowable limits imposed by MCMC (Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission).

Also, do realize bringing in any 2.4Ghz amplifier would require homologation testing by SIRIM.

Just another quick thought, You may want to use a directional antenna(small sector) located in a high spot on the building pointing down. If I had a 2 story building that I wanted to cover, and I wanted to try and keep the signal in the building so all of my neighbors were not freeloading( remember that even though You can not "see" the signal, it may be going down the street) on my network, putting a sector antenna in the center of the building at the highest point aimed downwards would be Your best bet. You can also use homemade shields made of sheet metal to stop unintended signal from "leaking out" by bending it around the sector. Be careful how You do this, as it may increase gain if formed the wrong way.:)

If 1 watt of power is required to transmit into a building, then you will need 1 watt to transmit back out of the building. Propagation loss is the same amount in each direction. If you are sure that you want a high power system then I would start with a stand-alone amplifier used with an inexpensive access point for testing. It will save you a lot of money until you find out what works for you.

Which is exactly my case. I'm using an inexpensive access point (D-Link DWL-G520+) with a stand-alone amplifier (a 2 watt hyperlink). In my case, penetration of buildings is great!

I have used only up to 500 Mw, and have found it to perform like a bolt of lightning as compared to no amplifier. Amplified Wi-Fi works very well in places that it is not 'supposed' to work at all. I think 2.4 Ghz's excellent reflective properties are much more prominent and useful when you have a tad more than a gnat's fart of RF. I would love to see what 2 watts would do, but that much power is forbidden here in the usa. I use D-Link a lot as well. They are a little buggy, moderately functional and very cheaply priced as compared to commercial radios with similar abilities. Amplifiers are also getting to be a lot less expensive.

Edit - Very bad experience with Demarctech. RMA'd and returned $400 purchase un-opened. Still no credit after 4 months. They will not return calls. Now in dispute process with credit card. I saw them mentioned higher in the thread and just had to say something about the BASTARDS.
