| cant delete temp files
windows says they are in use by another unidentified program. i booted to safe mode but i cant get into the explorer tree and the windows/temp folder from safe mode. so, i can't shut down the program which i cant identify that way. there are 110 temp files all combined contain zero content...0kb. so, they aren'y harming anything but i just want to know how to delete them when i cant identify the program that created them to turn it off long enough to dump them...presumably its a system program.... please advise ...thanks |

try doing it offline, turn off all startup items, AV,firewall etc and try deleting them, but dont forget to turn all the protection back on or another way delete them one by one, then when you have finished that all that will be left is the ones you cant at least then you might be able to research the ones still running
see how you go |

| reply to dave11 thanks guys...here's what the problem was..... ccleaner removed everything except the funny files. in task manager i began ending process for every system until i deliberately crashed the system......(it gives a warning before ut crashes) so i quickly went to windows/temp and saw all the .tmp files had gone....whem i restarted they were there again....(as i say ...i couldn't remove them from safe mode.....what it was ...i had installed a new version of the webroot product "spysweeper" amd when it loads at atartup it loads those files....i was mislead because before trying to delete the temp files (and this could not be done individually or "en masse" i unloaded my firewalls and spysweeper etc........nut the temp files don't instantly dissappear when you unload that program.....delayed reaction.....anyway...thats it...thanks |
