EDIT: Ok, I just installed it. It doesn't seem to do anything obvious, maybe some backend stuff. But still no 7 digit dialing, caller id with name, etc...

1 edit | DTA310 SIP firmware versions |
I have been collecting DTA310 firmware for a little while now.. here is a list of the ones I have available, if you need any...
Note: This list does not include the 'unofficial' firmware releases that are out there, just the stuff released by Packet8.

I can say it is new, as I checked the site a couple days ago, and it wasn't there.

I just tested using testyourviop.com and the golden phone, the 1315 firmware... got the same thing 4.4 with no packet loss!
I have no complains about voice quality.

| I tried testyourvoip's Golden phone first with 13.12. It returned a score of 4.4 (stating that it was g.711)
Then I downloaded and installed 13.15. I tried calling again and it, again, returned a score of 4.4 with g.711.
The website's a little screwy in that the 13.15 non-Windows link is there but not the 13.15 windows one (you have to manually change the url to 1315).
Anyway, seems to work fine.

1 edit | I quick note in quality - If you try the Gold Phone with some music etc. more 'complex' sounds then voice, you get to see a 4.2 - top score for G729. I also want to mention that I am still overall happy with P8. I seriously considered switching to SunRocket for a while, but I have to say my phone simply works, it has more or less the features I want and non of the recent outages seemed to have affected me - still rock solid. And G729 doesn't bother me - its classified as 'toll quality' and sounds better then my qwest landline used to me.
I am a bit worried about how P8 is gonna setup E911 for my phone, when I inquired about E911 about 8 month ago, they told me I had to change my phone number - I am not willing to do that, I hope they figure something out.

Ok, I took a stab at it--- here is a snapshot of 13.15 SIP firmware with the Packet8 settings for their choice of CODECS:
Note the "order of preference". Also, the G711u/a CODECs can't be selected... does this mean that they are always selected?

So that I can have it on more than one DTA-310 unit Did you have Packet8 'unlock' your device? They refused to unlock the DTA310 device for me. This happened when Packet8 revamped their technical support and began to clamp-down on letting anyone with the 'scoop' actually talk to the customer.. The tech staff that I did talk to basically told me to toss the DTA310 in the trash. So, I was left with no other option but to figure out another way to get it done.
My goal at the time was to be able to use the DTA310 with asterisk pbx. I got it working with 12.35 (12.35 is unlocked version of 12.34). There were issues with registration, etc. So, after stumbling upon the LeadTek AR16O firmware, I stopped working on the Packet8 firmware-- as the LeadTek firmware offers a lot more features-- and is more SIP compliant.
When I saw this thread about 13.15 firmware, I decided to 'unlock' it... and it worked! So, yes, the 13.15 firmware can be unlocked. The firmware will keep you from changing the proxy and domain (proxy.packet8.net) settings (it sets them back if you change them), making it useful only with Packet8 service..
They took out a ton of stuff.. the T.38 settings are gone (disabled, so they don't show up). They setup the DTA310 with this firmware to actually work with XML commands for configuration. They can 'unlock' the device remotely, without giving you the key.
