You gotta Vote. You gotta Vote!!!

I went to see a movie a few times, and they have this ad that suggests people should vote. It goes like this:

My name is Yuri. (with russian accent) I risked my life and spent all my money to leave Russia ALL for one thing - to be able to vote.

First of all, why are they spending money telling me I should vote? And secondly, I do whatever I want - not what some advertisement tells me to do.

But here is what I vote for:

1) I vote for a tax on all unhealthy stuff and subsidies for all healthy stuff ( like organic fruit)

2) I vote that anyone who doesn't own their own house, gets an interest free loan to buy his own house.

3) I vote that the highways have less congested traffic - people start driving less, riding their bike more.

4) I vote that governor general gets no more expensive holidays on taxpayers expense, for the rest of her life.

5) And last, I vote we get out of Afghjanistan, and use the troops to fight fires here in Canada instead.

I vote that all those who speed in school zones w/o wearing their seat belt be dismembered.

Probably because people don't ever think about what was said in the commercial. Voter turnout has been decreasing, and I would hope our government would be concerned about that, because if they're not, I would question their motives! I'd rather have a government that wants people to vote than one who doesn't.

I'm not a big fan of subsidies. Why should certain people get deals that others don't?

That's commie talk. Why should you get a deal when other people who already own houses didn't get it? Can't afford a house? Get a better job.

So you want other people to ride their bikes so that the road won't be as congested for you?

This I agree with. Accountability is something we need more of.

Is our army trained to fight fires? If they're not, why not let them keep the jobs they have and train other people? If we have to train someone, it might as well be someone who really wants to do it, rather than forcing soldiers to do it

Maj Kevin Winiarski (left) from Toronto, Ont., and Capt Martin Anderson from London, Ont., reservists with the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) team of Task Force Kabul (TFK), pitch tents to be used as outdoor classrooms at the Abdul-Ali-Mustaghni Boys School in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The TFK CIMIC team provides the link between Canadian troops and the Kabul civilian population within the Canadian area of responsibility. It helps the Task Force achieve its mission by conducting liaison and providing support to the surrounding communities.

Over 700 Canadian troops are currently deployed in Afghanistan as part of Operation ATHENA, Canada's contribution to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), in Kabul. At this time, ISAF comprises 8,000 troops from 36 nations.
