[SunRocket] Question about SR voicemail?

I read in Fatwallet forum that if we unplug the Gizmo or if our internet is down, people who call our SR numbers WILL get silence (or fast busy signal/number not in service msg), they WILL NOT get voicemail. Is that right? If this is true, it really is a show stopper for me.
Can SR customers in this forum please confirm this? I will try it tonight when I get home.

The gizmo on my account hasn't worked since the end of March, but call forwarding and voice mail still functions. I know that it is the same way with Packet8 and I imagine most other quality providers.
Give it a try, you may like it.

I am a SR customer for a month now. So far I have nothing but good comments about their service. I just came across this info today and want to verify in this forum.
Is your gizmo unplugged?

I was just referring to disconnecting the gizmo so that callers would go directly to voice mail instead of bothering you. Ok. Bad humor.

Normally if you power down the gizmo or loose connection a caller will get voice mail. Probably 95% of the time from my experience..

But that would make too much sense for SR tech. So they decided NOT to implement it.
Just tested with my SR line. Disconnected power to the gizmo. Tried to call my SR# from cell/land line. I got the busy signal after ~20seconds silence. Hooked the power back, everything back to normal.
I don't know what the heck are they smoking at SR. Everyone knows that voip is not as reliable as POTS, I thought this feature is a must have in case your power or your internet connection goes down.
Has anyone else tested their SR line?

Strange. Very Strange. With the gizmo disconnected it forwards to the forward # if I have it programmed to. Otherwise it goes to Voice Mail.
How long did you have the gizmo disconnected for? It may take a couple of minutes for their server to realize that you are off line. I do not know.
With the gizmo on line; Does your Voice Mail pick up if you don't answer your Sunrocket line?

I disconnected my gizmo, and tested right after (30sec I guess). Let me test it again this time I will wait for a few minutes.
And yes, if I don't pickup the phone after 5 rings the call will go to voice mail.

I tested again. Still same result (busy signal) after unplugged the Gizmo and wait for 30 minutes.

Same here....is this a feature or a bug???

It must be a bug. I mean, how hard is it redirect a call to voicemail if the gizmo is not registered with the server or the gizmo not responding.

I just made several incoming calls to my SunRocket number and all rang and went to voicemail. I unplugged the gizmo and now incoming calls got a fast busy. I plugged in the gizmo and now calls to SR go dead from the outside line, nothing on the gizmo phone until about 3 minutes later when it rings and displays the incoming CID but nothing when I answer. Rebooting the gizmo hasn't yet helped.

ok, here's a potential solution: (worked for me )

1. With the Gizmo unplugged, make some calls; if they show as "missed calls" on the Sunrocket Website, then goto step 2. Otherwise, call Sunrocket tech support and open a ticket.

2. Delete all voicemail boxes, and recreate them. This solved the problem for me. Now, calls to an unplugged Gizmo go to Voivemail .

That makes sense. I have never done the original activation of voice mail from the phone, and my # forwards correctly and VM answers. This is a big issue for SR to take care of. I'm glad that we never did the original voice mail set up.

Is this a permanent fix or just a temporary fix until the next connect then disconnect the gizmo?

Thanks for the advice. I've set up and deleted the SR voicemail many times. I ask SR support to completely delete my account and re establish everything. They agreed and even offered to send a new gizmo. I asked for them to try the rebuild today with the same gizmo. I'll let you know.

I don't see how changing the gizmo would fix the problem of calls not being forwarded when the gizmo is off line???
Maybe I'm missing something???

probably not (changing the Gizmo), I think deleting the account and recreating should work...

I agree. That is why I asked them to try the account rebuild before an exchange. Also because I have the time to play today. I have had a series of problems and inconsistencies since I first set up gizmo 3 weeks ago. I think most are portal problems but the voice quality was bad my first 10 days.
