It's interesting that no one I can see has mentioned that if you bcc: an email, the to: could be real or not and thousands of others who receive it wonder how they got it. Email address generators are available on the internet and the inherent structure of email as well as open mail relays, owned computers, etc. don't help. Doing a little research just confirmed what I have told people from day one. There is an excellent chance that ANYTHING you have ever injected into the internet is there FOREVER.:D |

My mom got one of these in her Yahoo email, which went
right into her bulk mail folder. Obviously a phish, as
the scammers most likely got her email from someone's
bulk mailing list or something similar.
She also got a 419 letter, another obvious one as the
subject said "MUTUAL BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP" and had a
Nigerian sounding name as the sender. Yahoo didn't flag
it as spam, though.

What is also is, is that whatever it says in the TO field could be anything (It could say Santa Clause) and it could still get to you. |

Regarding the address being "not quite" the correct address I noticed that a lot of the Russian/Ukranian, (or from somewhere there), offers of hot software at ridiculously low prices had close approximations of my address, but not correct. Likewise Nigerian scam letters and a lot of the junk mail gets to me even when the address is not spot on.
I think that our ISP mail sorters must take a close enough is good enough approach Maybe they are using a percentage match algorithym, get a high enough score and you get the junk. |

BillRoland, thank you sir. Just pointing out that this is a "phish" that seems to still be going around, and wondering why it is being sent to me if it's not my addy. I am very careful with where I internet and also on how I secure my pc's in the house.

What IS interesting is the fact that it is not my email. Kind of close but no darn ceeeegar. How does it end up in my email account if it is not my email addy?

So it seems as if they are aware of some scams, but the more people that report them the better. Glad you didn't get hoodwinked.
If i had have reached the bogus site i would have taken great delight in filling in lots of useless details for them to waste their time with. Of course i am NOT recommending that others ever do if faced with a similar situation.
It's Always wise NEVER to click on a link in an email, no matter what ! Even if you actually trust the link then i suggest you copy and paste it into notepad, and then After you have logged out close your browser and relaunch a new instance of it, and then copy and paste into the fresh browser.

You're not the only one getting those. It's one of the newer phishes see »Email About a Bank Account I Don't Even Have?
These irritating emails never cease... 
For reporting, I recommend the antiphishing.org site. It's a legitimate clearinghouse and reporting center for just that type of scam.

You should also call your bank using whatever number is on your statement if you feel it's a phish, or of you have clicked on the link. They're more amenable to taking these reports than they used to be.

| I don't normally view this particular forum but I thought I'd post this .jpg that I took in my outlook. Obviously I did not click on the link shown and HIGHLY suggest know one go to it. Is this not an identity theft scam? If it is (and I very much assume so), can I send this to an "authority" for further action. What ever that may be? I have only been back online for about a month now. Before that I have been offline for over six months. I grabbed the same ISP I had in the past. They assigned me the same email address had back then. I NEVER had this amount of spam in the past. I am very careful with my browsing and only use webmail addys (such as yahoo) to fill in anything online.
Long story short. I just thought I would put this up so others can watch out for it.
If this is in the wrong place mods, please except my apologies
