I made a copy of my profile and whenever I hover over the folder it freezes the computer while trying to connect to 216.47.187.139 port 21, zone alarm blocks this outgoing attempt and eventually this pops up:

Hover over any folder or a particular one; or is there an outbound connection the moment you open explorer?

I winrar'ed the entire folder and then deleted the backup folder.

It is just that folder that was causing the problem. Don't know what bug it is.

More details, please! What profile did you copy, what directory? The stuff in My Documents or in the Windows directory? Did it only try when hovering over the copy, or the original, too? Was this new behavior, or something you noticed as soon as you made the copy? I'd like to try to duplicate this -- what OS are you using?

Also, what process is Zone Alarm blocking from making the connection?

Edit: Explorer, I guess... duh!

It was my user profile with all my settings, it is 80 megs and I copied it to a different partition. Whenever I would go to that partition and hover over the folder, the computer would freeze up and then explorer would try to make an outgoing request to 216.47.187.139 port 21, which oddly enough doesn't seem to exist. Zone Alarm would popup the request which I deny {explorer.exe}.

I've done scans with virus apps and nothing is detected.

is it possible you accidently (or some one else) created a network drive to that location? I have 2 remote "shares" on my 2 ftp servers i use for vaarious things. One is my personal web site the other is a friends server. These are both set up as web folders. What you describe sounds like its wanting to make a connection to display the status (connected etc" But sence its no longer or was never there windows hangs while trying to get tha info.
