How do you change new customers email address book from directway or an aol or earthlink to my system. Is there a copy paste type of function or an import type of system. Im not the tech but had this question twice in 30 minutes?

It shouldnt matter. An address book is just for outgoing addresses. They wont change if the customer switches to your service. Only thing that will change is the settings within the mail program to retrieve their own mail from your server.
Think of it this way.. telephone book (address book). Say I've got a telephone book in my hand, and I call the phone company to change my number (email addy). The phone company will change the settings for my line to reflect the new number (download settings in the program), but nothing needs to be done to my phone book as all the numbers in it are still correct. I can still contact Joe Blow by using the same number in the phone book.
OTOH.. since you mentioned "import type of system", I assume you're referring to switching a user from AOL's internal mail garbage to Outlook Express or something of the like to bring them onto your "system". OE does have an import function, to import messages, and address books from several external mail programs. Most other pop3 clients have a similar function buried somewhere within their menus.
Please clarify exactly what it is you're wanting to do. -- Teamwork is a lot of people doing what I say. | ircd.removed.us #dslr | Starband SRS m360 GE4 C4/S69 | Win2003/DualNIC | 802.11b |

As mentioned above, you won't need to have customers create a whole new profile to get their mail from you now instead of Direcway. They will just need to change the pop and smtp settings as well as addressing info etc. If you do need to import and export mail account ifo like the mail itself, when using Outlook it is all stored in an *.ost or *.pst file found on the machine; if you use Outlook Express the files are called *.dbx and are usually stored in the folders under the users windows profile. All of the files can be copied or imported to get the mail to new machines or profiles. |
