| [FYI] For You Sports Photography Enthusiasts
This photograph was taken by Golf Digest photographer Stephen Szurlej at this year's Masters golf tournament after Tiger Woods pitched in from off the green for a birdie. It is, arguably, the best shot in golf history and Stephen just happened to be in the right place at the right time to take, arguably, the best photograph in golf history.
Here's a link to another golf photographer's story on the shot(s).

| reply to AzzKicker If you don't think it's so good, there's nothing that I'm going to say to convince you otherwise. It probably has to do with the fact that you don't get golf. If you were watching the tournament on TV or were lucky enough to be there in person, you might view it differently, but that's cool if you don't think it's that great. Actually, I never thought much about Eisenstaedt's photograph of the sailor kissing the nurse in Times Square, which is considered one of the all time great photographs. To each his own. |

Notice, I did say "arguably" and I chose that word purposely. I'm a huge golf and Tiger Woods fan, so that may have something to do with it. |

| reply to SandShark I know that my KM 7D would never capture Woods in focus as the camera would almost certainly pick out just about anything close to his image in the foreground instead. That is a big gripe we KMers share is how the camera is so imprecise in similar situations even with spot focus set. So what to me is remarkable is that the photographer was able to get the focus on Woods with all the non-contrasty stuff in front.
That guy on the left does look pasted in and also has a eerie resemblance to GWB.:D Also do you remember the vaseline smear on the lens perimeter trick? Kinda looks like that a little too. |

I'm sorry you get so mad easily. But this is a photography forum and it is a public place and it is the internet. We're simply just giving our opinions on this photograph. Why just because Mlok and I disagree you have to get pissed and demand thread locked. Just because our opinions are different? If we locked every thread in here because there were differences in opinion this forum wouldnt exist. -- Click here to view my Photo Gallery

| reply to SandShark I was just curious from a sports perspective -- was this a big deal for Tiger to win? I don't keep up with golf & was just curious. I'd just assumed he'd already won the Masters before.

| reply to SandShark At first I thought it wasn't so great. The more I read the article, the more I look at the picture, and I do understand why the momnet was so incredible. Tiger virtually came from nowhere and took the Masters. knowing a little of what the photographer went through, I've never covered a golf event, and the issues he had to work with, it is a pretty good photo. I don't think I could have captured the moment in the way he did. My finger or someone's hand or head would have spoiled it for me.:D Just my two cents. |
