| CNET: Spybot The Best 'Cause It Has Skins!
Is this a new low? The extent of their testing in this case seems to be whether the interface is pretty enough and how much of a drain on system resources is exhibited during scanning.
Uh, Senior Editor Vamosi, perhaps next time you might wanna include some minor details such as... do the products eliminate spyware??

Thank heaven for Mr. Howes.

I think this should be a poll. Which Spybot skin do you use?
IMHO MSAS & McAfee Anti-spyware are prettier than any Spybot skin. -- Hey...look another dead horse...let's beat it to death. |

After all, would Norton and McAfee be so popular if they didn't boast bloated, cutesy colorful GUIs? -- SMTP: Spam and Malware Transfer Protocol. Also used on rare occasion to transmit e-mail messages. |

| It's actually a bit funny, since I always thought Spybot had a rather bad interface. MSAS is kinda pretty. What am I saying?

Well it's obvious from your lack of avatar that you have no style, so it's no surprise you don't give "visual appeal" much weight.

| reply to B I think Spybot S&D is a fine product, but I could care less about skins or any of that stuff, I just want it to work. In that regard, I think it doesn't look or work as good as Microsoft AntiSpyware. I DO think it works and looks better than Ad-Aware though. -- "Don't steal. The government hates competition." |

If so... anyone want to guess when the first vulnerability will be found? |

| No, it didn't.
That quote's a YEAR OLD, based on an old test before either NIS's antispam or MSAS even existed!
CNET's had this habit lately of repackaging old product reviews as if they're doing a new comparison. It's pretty misleading.

I think Mr. Vamosi deserves LOTS more razzing than our friends at Spybot - that from a senior editor, no less! |

| reply to B Visual skins are so last week.
You all realize, of course, that the main reason that KAV is the premier anti-virus product in the world is the supremely startling and annoying sound it gives off when a virus is detected: the squeal of an angry Russian wild boar.
I have suggested to Kaspersky Labs that KAV 6 have "audio skins".
The skins give users their choice of squeals from 5 different species of wild boar (Russian, North American, South American, European, and Indonesian).
