| Re: Questions on switching between computers One thing that you might be able to do, is program the other machine's MAC number to your NIC card if the NIC settings allow. My friend's Dell laptop as well as my Gateway Desktop has that feature. They both have Intel(R) PRO/100 VE NICs I also have a SMC USB NIC that I can program. Look under Advanced Settings for the NIC. The Intel setting is labeled "Locally Administered Address"
If the MAC number is the same on both machines, Insight doesn't ask you to re-register the computer. But remember you can only have one of the machines to the cable modem at a time and I think even my router messes up when I have my old Dell and new Gateway (cloned to old Dell MAC) online at once. |
