DGL-4300 VS DI-624: Still reboot issues?

I currently own a DI-624 which locks up and reboots under a lot of traffic. I've got so annoyed with it that i just disconnected it from the network

I swore never to buy a d-Link again... and was planning to buy me a linksys. However, the D-Link DGL-4300 is the only router with gbit ports i could find and it doesn't look to bad at all...

So i was wondering if the DGL-4300 is having any problems i should know of and if anyone ever got reboot issues

So my question: is the DGL-4300 a good buy?

Waiting for replies as original author. Especially about 4300 and eMule's Kad experience. Thanks in advance.

from a user review:

THe only issue I'm having right now is I get random reboots sorta... not sure whats going on. I think its too many connections now after searching this forum.. I used to let BT make ~300 connections max... which never was a problem but I guess might be with the dlink router.

Not sure if that is it because when i reboot the router, gaim and irc are disconnected... yet when the router seems to reboot itself... ie i'm playing a game and instantly everyone just slides on teh screen and I have to either reconnect or wait 30 sec for the game to sync up again... when that happens most of the time i don't get disconnected from irc/gaim. Dunno.. but just now turned down max connects on everything and will see.

The DGL 4300 does not get random reboots. I've had it several months now without a single reboot. Its a totally different chipset than what the 624 has in it, made by a totally different company.

I know that there are a lot of Dlink haters who will post troll messages to turn people off from Dlink. If there were rebooting problems, you would see a lot more complaints than just that one.

I have no idea what that KAD is though.

Newegg, Amazon, Pricegrabber, etc. all have excellent reviews of the dgl-4300.

With all due respect, if you don't know what KAD is, then you also aren´t elegible for evaluating the rebooting problem. And plus, you would actually see there are hundreds of persons with the reboot problem on the DI-624.

Richard.

I'm not a D-link hater... i love the DI-624 but the rebooting makes it useless to me for the things i need to do.

I understand that opening 2000 connections at once will make any router slower, but making it disconnect is not an option.

I'm probably gonna by the 4300 if i have read some more USER comments. Reviews are great, but don't cover real-life situations...

And your not quali9fied to reply to my post considering you don't even own a 4300.

Jeez, I'm sick of the dlink haters on this board. I think I'll just stop posting and you guys can have your little troll parties.

I havent had any reboot issues as of yet, but only had it for about 1 week.
The only issues i've noticed is:
1. Gamefuel doesnt correctly measure your uplink speed when set to "auto detect", it usually detects half of what my speed actually is and i find that entering manually is the best bet. I have a 768 upload speed, but setting a speed of 718 in the settings worked best for me.
2. Even though you uncheck "auto detect uplink" in the gamefuel settings, it still runs a check for your uplink (i dunno what server it tests from, maybe thats the problem why it always detects half my upload)
3. If you uncheck the "automatcially check for firmware updates" and go to the STATUS page, the version number written there is 1.0, even though im running version 1.3.

Been working good so far, only had to tweak the gamefuel uplink settings and havent had any reboot issues that i had with my old 624.
