1 edit | Pictures of City layout for my WISP
 | | | | | | | | | Family, little something extra for yah |
I couldn't make it up to the Tower site in my mother in laws car, but I made it to the water tower, so thats where I took my pictures at. Meet with the man that owns the land tomorrow, so wish me luck. I was thinking of trading him for internet service, but he lives in Alaska in the summer and then returns in the fall. Real nice guy. I also have my business plan pretty much done. What a headache.
ps, I know I should ask the city about placing a antenna on the water tower, but I dont want to deal with them and my spot is way better. Anyways, let me know what you guys think. The tower is a lot higher than were the pictures where taken.
Now I just need some damn investors |

High will be better. You get a better "look" angle at them, and cut down on the number of trees you have to deal with. -- A is A |

| Awesome news! The guy wants to invest and pay for equipment and let me do all the technical stuff. I wish I could of brought my digi camera with me this time. The area looked way better than the other pictures. The Site is perfect. Here is the exact location N 44 45.965 W 117 52.882 , with elevation at 4,800. There are 3 other cell sites up there.
I'm so excited and also stressed at the same time. He is calling about running electrical cable from one of the transformers to my site, then he's gonna call me back.
Have to figure cost of equipment and Network layout for him. He leaves June 3rd, then returns July4, then back to Alaska. I guess He liked what I had to say.
Any other idea's or info I should get, please let me know. |

The only good partner is no partner. I cant get a business loan, and I'm also unemployed because I've been pursuing my Business and doing my own thing(PC repair, Networking and site design) . This guy is 66 years olds, owns our Sanitary Service in Town, so he is going to have his secretary's send out brochures to all of his customers in all the bills. I dont think he would screw me. He also goes to my church and knows my Grandparents. He said he would just like to see someone young like myself getting started early.
How Else do I get funding? Friends and family, nope that is a big mistake. Will never do that. The bank, said "they cant help me". Anymore suggestions?
I mean, I can see where you're coming from. I would like to do this on my own, but I just dont have the money, he does. He also owns most of the western hills in the pictures. I believe he just wants to be a private investor, if there's much of a difference. |

| reply to operad I got my cash from friends and family, and credit cards.
It's always god to agree upon something at the start and write it down. Just get clear expectations of each other. Then when things change, you can look back and see what the original expectations were when you both saw eye to eye. |

| No crazy tower climbing, at the elevation Im at I think I will only put up a 10' 20' Pole.
Whats really the difference in getting money from friends and family, who would still be breathing down your back about whats going on, why dont you have anymore customers, When do I get my money repaid to me,etc? |

1 edit | reply to operad I gave my 2 cents already... What more do you want?
By the way, when do I get my money back?:D
Also, since this being your first WISP... Little advice, (I think it's your first WISP)
1) Kiss your wife, you may not see her again for a while
2) Keep that picture of your family, will be nice to have while working at a client's house and they're breathing down your neck.
3) You social life may dissapear, we have noticed this, I don't have a life, it just went somewhere. Dunno I just live at the office now or something like that.
4) Do you enjoy coffee? You may wish to take up this as a hobby.
Hehehe GOOD LUCK! Wish I had that place to start in?
PS. What's the milage on your car now? My truck is rounding 341000. |

| reply to operad I've worked for both a company that had a private investor and now with a WISP that is self funded.
Which would you rather have, family breathing down your neck as to why sales are slow or a stranger that you don't know? The big difference is that family will just want to be paid back, investors expect to make money from the deal, more money than if it was just sitting in a bank.
Since it's their money they will want to add their input, even if they don't really know what's going on. Just because the guy is laid back now doesn't mean he'll be that way in 6 months.
I'm not saying not to do it, but to decide how much control you want of the business because regardless of what the guy says he'll be involved to make sure his investment is protected. |

But write down on a piece of paper what you will do, what he will do, who will own what, and what you will get. Then discuss it with him, both of you sign it, and each keep a copy. |

If your hear for advice, take it. I just fought a lawsuit against a partner who turned crooked. It starts good but ends like a divorce, or nastier. |
