| I guess they might think somebody might use find it and use it as a real dns server since it's out in the public, though I don't know why they wouldn't use Insight's. I got one for mail and web, which was good for me since I don't keep up with patchs and wasnt using it anyway.
I'll give insight a benefit of a doubt since they seem to be trying to clean up their network for everybody elses speed. I dont have speed issues now, but I've been hit with speed problems at peak hours before. There's probably a bunch of these ppl with hacked servers that don't know it putting out warez, spam or viruses. Luckily I wasn't hacked, but I could have been...... |

| reply to Master5c8 I got one as well, it makes me think insight is incompetent. I have no ftp server running, though I did when I had a very good ISP, unlike insight. In my router no ports are forwarded, so ftp 21 will not work, but I had changed the rules so port 21 would be forwardable. When I had Smithville/bluemarble as an isp I did run a small ftp for a DoD clan to share demo files, that server was removed about 2 years ago. The only thing Insight could have seen was that my router was allowing port 21 into itself. Pretty poor on insight in general. There was never a server running there on there service. If it was not for the fact that I get 4mbits down 384kbits up for 1/2 the price I would not use the poor service they offer, I just can't pay $72 a month for 1.5/384 a month any more, I did like the 2 static IP's for free a lot. If you live in Monroe county IN and can get and afford SmithvilleDSL it is an outstanding service. |

| reply to Shack Shack, what was the response line they sent out. Mine had info on what the server was. if your ftp port was being forwarded but with nothing on it, the port would be closed since your pc would response back as closed on port 21. if it was marked as open, surely it would have something running to keep it open. Try putting your ip on your address bar with »ftp:// on it. |
